HP Ultra Slim Docking Station G2 D9Y32

I’m in outside sales and work from home quite a lot and also work out in the field. One thing that I love about this, is how easy it is for me to pop into my office, send a quick email, and then grab my computer and run. It comes with a power supply so no fumbling.I’m neurodivergent so it’s important that I have less barriers between where I’m at and where I need to be. I can’t believe the price point.Very nice. I love HP products!

Mad all the difference when my power cables were not being consistent

As a docking station this works quite well and I have no complaints. I am here to comment on something I ran across that took me a couple of months to figure out. I use a KVM switch ATEN 2-Port USB 2.0 DVI KVMP Switch with Cables CS1762A (Silver) to switch between my work laptop and my home desktop. My KVM switch is DVI based. With my previous docking station/laptop this worked fine because everything supported DVI. With the new docking station I only had DP++ available so I figured no big deal, just get a DP to DVI adapter. First I tried an active adapter Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort to DVI Male to Female Adapter, but got this constant irregular noise from the docking station whenever I was displaying the laptop on my monitor. Then I tried a passive adapter StarTech.com DisplayPort To DVI Adapter - Passive - 1080p -DP to DVI - Display Port to DVI-D Adapter with the same results. I tried a different docking station thinking it might be defective, no change. Since everything but my KVM switch supported DisplayPort I finally tried a KVM switch based on native DisplayPort Avocent 2-Port DisplayPort 4K Ultra HD KVM Switch (SV220D). Eureka, noise is gone, I can work in peace. I could find no others experience with this sound, so I thought I'd share my experience.

Works great. Easy to set up and use.

The dock includes an HP 65W power supply brick, which was implied but wasn't specifically stated in the product listing. I use this dock with a work-issued Elitebook G3 850, and have no issues to report so far. I am using audio-out, Ethernet, one USB3, and one DisplayPort. I was unable to locate any firmware update for it on the HP site, although that could be due to my company's firewall. Note that the included power brick has a much larger barrel connector than the one for the Elitebook G3 notebook, so they are not interchangeable. Unlike most inexpensive power bricks, this power brick hides a third connector sense line inside what looks like a normal barrel connector.I took off one star because the docking is a two step process (impale the laptop on the guide pins, then slide the docking lever sideways) which is not as intuitive as previous HP docks where you simply impaled the laptop on the pins and everything worked. I shudder to think of the day when I forget to un-slide the docking lever and try to lift the laptop off the dock. Due to the slimness, all the various connectors are right down at the surface of the desk, not a huge issue for me but if you have older cables with thick connector plugs, it could put stress on the sockets. Otherwise, a nice fit and finish, with all the utility you'd expect for a dock of this price point.

Dock works great, and the price was awesome.

NOT a G2. The box has the sticker for a G2...Same REV 1 version that I was trying to replace. Nothing on the device states that it is a G2 and when I looked up on HP no G2 in the description. 8/9/22 - no one responding to the lying.
