Good bench dog
Good bench dog. Made well. Sturdy, plus handy features. The photos tell the tale and compare to Rockler dogs.1. As packaged.2. Out of the package. Four (4) blue dogs and four (4) black pads. Brief instructions. Painter's Points are discussed in the description on line but are not part of this package. No painter's points included.3. Dog in bench. Rubber "bench brake" inserted in blue dog. Wood in background is 3/4" thick (standard 1x).4. Blue plastic bench dog has a head 7/16" thick (confirmed with micrometer). Allows work on 1/2" stock without interferance.5. The Rockler bench dogs have one side tapered. The Kreg dogs have flat tops, no taper, but they also have a curved vertical side.6. The shaft of the Kreg dogs is 2" long. Sides are smooth. Rockler has a shorter shaft and ventilated sides. Both went in and out of 3/4" holes in bench with equal ease.7. These Kreg bench dogs can support "painter's points." This particular package does not include any painter's points. Instead I made some with leftover 1/2" dowel. The dowel fit very nicely in the hole of the Bench Brake. I tapered a point with a carpenter pencil sharpener. Taper the top point but not too sharp. Then cut the length you want. The short piece is 1.5". The longer piece is 2.0". The 2" painter point was easier to work with. To support some irregular object you could mix in some longer painter points. To skip the sharpening step, cut the top end at 45 degrees.8. If the rubber Bench Brakes are MIA, or if you happen to have 3/4" dowel handy, you can still make your own paint points. The 3/4" dowel fits nicely in the recess of the bench dog head. The pencil sharpener won't work for thick dowels so either taper with a knife or cut the top end at 45 degrees. An off-center point works fine for painting.9. Shop-made painter points at work. The object supported has irregular shape.10. The short shaft of the rubber Bench Brakes fit 3/4" holes nicely. They can be used directly in your bench without the blue dogs.11. Storage on my clamp cart. Also seen in photos: Rockler Bench Dogs Empire Level E250 12-Inch Heavy Duty Professional Combination Square w/Etched Stainless Steel Blade and True BlueR Vial Johnson Level & Tool 300B-25 Pencil/Crayon Sharpener, Pack of 25 I like these plastic Kreg bench dogs and rubber bench brakes. Could I do the same thing with some 3/4" dowel? Yes, mostly. But my workbench is outside--reasonably protected but still outside. In damp weather all the wood swells. Then the wooden dogs stick hard. The plastic Rockler dogs have been easier than wooden dogs to use in summer humidity or spring dampness. I expect the plastic Kreg dogs will work just as nicely.I hope you find this review helpful.

With these I have no need for my aluminum dogs.
Love these Kreg dog holes. In fact I am truly a fan of most things Kreg makes, accept for their router tables. Those things are garbage. I had never used plastic dogs before so I was skeptical and order 2 packs. Well I was pleasantly surprised and almost exclusively use these dogs now instead of my aluminum dogs. These these are quite durable. I have never had to open that second pack. These are only like 8 bucks for 4 of them when aluminum dogs can cost you upwards of 40 bucks each. These do not require a through hole as they sit right on top of the hole which is nice as not all of the holes in my bench are through holes. I also never have the need to clamp something down so tightly on my bench that it requires aluminum on wood. So unless you need a larger face dog for thicker material then I see no need for aluminum. I have successfully used these to clamp down 2" material. Oh they are also good to use as bench cookies. so if you are staining or need to sand those edges you can sit your work piece on top of them to put a little space between the work piece and the bench.I DID MAKE ONE MODIFICATION TO THESE DOGS WHICH EVERYONE DOES NOT NEED TO DO. MY WORK BENCH DOG HOLES CONSIST OF SOFTWOOD AND PLYWOOD. THE LEADING END OF THESE DOG HOLES HAVE SHARP EDGES ON THEM THAT CAN GET SNAGGED ON SOFTWOOD OR PLYWOOD ON ITS WAY DOWN THE DOG HOLE. SO TO ALLEVIATE THAT PROBLEM. I TOOK A FILE AND BEVELED THE LEADING END OF THESE DOGS A BIT SO THEY WOULD NOT SNAG. IF YOUR DOG HOLES CONSIST OF A HARDWOOD SUCH AS MAPLE, THEN THIS WONT BE A PROBLEM FOR YOU, BUT I DO RECOMMEND IT FOR THOSE WITH TORSION STYLE WORKBENCHES WHOLE DOG HOLES DRILLED INTO PLYWOOD, SOFTWOOD, OR MDF.

Great grinder -- review from a User Experience Engineer
I work in the human factors/product design industry, so part of my job is identifying issues with products and making them work better for people. That being said, this coffee grinder is pretty much flawless. All the parts you interact with are removeable and washable, so you don't get and coffee residue build up over time (easily the best part of this design). The cups overlap well so no bean dust gets out. The motor is as quiet as any other you will see at this price point (a little over conversation level when grinding). The coffee grind is surprisingly good for a blade-style grinder -- 5 seconds held down, followed by three pulses will usually make the beans uniform in cut. The power button is built into the design so that it's comfortable to access and hold down. This thing even does great at mixing small batches of wet ingredients for pesto sauces, etc. The two downside I see with the design -- and I'm stretching here -- is the fact that a.) you cannot store/wrap the cord around the base of the unit very easy, and b.) the bean brush it comes with is not attachable to the unit (ex. Magnetic clip, Velcro, etc.).Seriously though -- this is a great grinder. Look at the features offered from other similarly priced models and you will see that this one is considerably a better deal.

A little loose
Bought these because i had lost 1 bench dog on my black and decker workmate and it was driving me nuts. This was the cheapest set i could find online and i am happy with my purchase even though i feel i paid way too much for 4 pieces of plastic and some rubber. These bench dogs were durable and the rubber inserts were nice. They feel about as sturdy as my existing ones and would not break easily. The only downside to theses are that they are smaller than the holes in my workbench so they move around a lot and come out easily. I finally solved this by wrapping masking tape around them to get a snug fit but these are definitely smaller than my original black and decker ones.

Handy but overpriced
Handy to have around but given that they are plastic I find they are a bit overpriced. Kreg seems to take advantage of the name a lot these days, but the quality on some of their products has slipped. That said there's nothing wrong with these ones if you don't mind the price tag. I've used them a fair bit and no failures to date.
