Fits my Romanian SKS! (with a little grinding)
I have tried many different replacement receiver cover mounts for my Romanian SKS. I kept receiving covers that were far too large for my receiver and no amount of grinding would make them fit. Thanks to Amazon's great service, I was able to return them all. When this receiver cover arrived, it nearly fit perfectly out of the box. It only required a small amount of grinding at the angled front prongs that fit beneath the receiver rails, and it now fits perfectly and very solid. I have not done any shooting with this mount yet, but I expect it to hold zero perfectly.WARNING TO PURCHASERS: This will likely require grinding to fit your rifle. This is part of finding a receiver cover mount for your SKS. Be VERY careful not to take off too much material or the cover may fit loosely and your optic will not hold zero.My receiver cover was dropped during manufacturing and had slight damage to the front prongs. After grinding to fit, it really didn't matter, so this product still gets a 5 star review from me.

Barskas customer service is about as useful as bum foot
COMPLETE POS filed for hours when I finally got it to fit it wasn't even wide enough for the bolt carrier to come through. Barskas customer service is about as useful as bum foot. The finish on this product wasn't even as good as cheap spray paint. Everything I get from Barska is totally useless and not even presentable to the public. They should be sued and ordered to close down for how bad EVERYTHING they make is. I ended up getting the NcStar rail and it was 100% better and fit with minimal filing and it cost less so please stop looking at this and never buy anything that bears the name Barska upon it.

Work....work......work.
Believe it or not, to get it just right took me 8 hours of work. I know, I know, that sounds like a lot but no I'm not a dummy and do know a little of what I'm doing. First of all you need to file off the front tangs because it won't fit......they are too long. Make sure you keep the right angle. Even when you do get them the right size and it fits, the hole that holds the retaingin pin is not correct and you need to enlarge one side of the hole so the pin will slide in......don't file off too much though. Use a round file and try often. When it is a tight fit you're done. Think you're finished.............no way. Now take some sandpaper and get rid of the paint on the inside or slide mechanism won't work. Gets stuck every single time. Just getting the paint off however won't do it. You'll nee to remove some of the metal on the inside because the circumference inside is just not big enought to let the cylinder slide smoothly. After 8 hours, lightly gun grease the inside and work the mechanism manually 50 or so times till it snaps back smoothly. Now that it's installed and scope is on, it's out to the range to see if it holds true or loosens after a 100 rounds or so.Installed on my Norinco SKS M4 Black Rail + Pistol Grip. Finally got out on the range after first installing scope and adjusting it with laser boresighter. Shot just three rounds at 100yds. and got a grouping of 1 1/4 inches. Just to make sure that it didn't work the scope loose I shot another three and grouped them at 1 1/2 inches.....Not bad for an SKS....Not bad at all. The work put in was worth it.

Read all the reviews! Filing is required but great fit can be achieved
I have a Norinco SKS and a number of the reviews described exactly what I had to do so I won't go through the whole story again. Go slow and steady! File, check the fit, file, check the fit, rinse and repeat. Having a Dremel helps; as most of the buyers with an SKS have stated, a fair amount of material has to be removed from the front teeth. One tip that I haven't seen anywhere else--I compared the position of the pin hole in the stock cover to the Barska relative to location in the block it goes through. They both looked about the same but when I put the Barska in the rear surface was well above the surface it seated in, while the stock cover rear surface was a little subflush. Therefore I kept filing away little by little until the surfaces were flush. The pin still wouldn't even enter the hole so I kept going until it did but wouldn't insert all the way through. I intentionally wanted a snug fit so I filed the teeth just to the point that the pin has to be tapped through (and tapped back out with a punch). As has been stated, the screws that hold the rail to the mount are cheap; I put Loctite on them, tightened them down, and if they do come loose I'll replace them. And yes, as has been noted on many 1-star reviews, the bolt on my gun had a very tight fit when charged rearward. It took two rounds of quick filing with a hand file along the surfaces the bolt rides on and the fit and bolt movement was just as easy as with the stock cover. This is STEEL ON STEEL, folks. Any whisker of interference and things won't move. Take away that whisker and things will move fine. For the price of this product everything looks great, fits tight, and all that's left is to shoot it. I like that I can easily take my gun back to its original status and nothing on it got damaged in the process.

Pitted, poorly cast steel that requires a lot of fitting work for a marginal fit
Had to significantly file the tangs, and take a full 1.5mm from the sides of the pin latch block to get it to fit. Also had to rebore the pinhole and file out the key slot. Fits okay, but compared to the original cover plate for my cherry Yugoslavian parade rifle, which is all milled and extremely well fitted, this stands out like it was 'handmade' made in a Pakistani street market. The bolt also sticks when retracted manually. Gives me great pause about firing it under pressure and it will require more work to ensure proper bolt return. Maybe this will work better on a chinese rifle? Not at all worth the money IMHO. Not entirely because of all the milling, but because the metal is soft, pitted and paint is out of a rattlecan. Skip this one.

exactly what i needed!
Excellent product. A little shaving and grinding on the front tabs and it fit perfectly. Expect to do this on every one. Remember not all SKS rifles are the same. The Action slides very smoothly and the sight I have mounted holds zero. Very satisfied and would recommend this mount to anyone with the archangel stock mod.

didnt fit
This piece didnt even fit onto my sks i had to file it down to actually fit on my gun but i guess thats whgat you get for 30 bucks eh . but i think if they didnt powder coat it so much it would have fit fine ..... maybe. I filed and fitted the piece over and over for almost two hours to get it to fit good enough to work i was almost scared to pull the trigger

SKS Mount with Integrated Rail
Took a lot of work to get the bolt to slide after installing. Great item, recommended, however SKS parts vary by firearm. Although I had trouble fitting, the Item is solid !! worth the buy. Thank you seller.

Takes some work, but works like a charm.
The thing did not fit when I first got it, but this is a know fact... the SKS is pretty much hand made, so the pieces are not all the same, you have to work to fit this thing on. If you take your time and follow instructions on youtube etc.. you will have good results. I had to file the metal down by hand with a bastard file.. work slowly and methodically so you don't take too much material and you will have good results.

using emery cloth rolled up to form like a pin had to file the pin hole until ...
Know up front that you will have to modify this to fit your sks, as noted many times previously and on all the review sites out there, sks's are not made to exacting spec and the various countries that make it are not all on the same spec page. Item arrived on time no issues with seller or shipping. There was no instruction sheet with it to even attempt to inform you of what needs to be done to this to make fit, after some hours of online searching I found the instruction sheet that should have been included. Starting on the front angled points you have to file them at the same angle until the cover moves enough for the cross pin hole to line up, now on mine the cross pin hole sat high, but at this point while holding the cover in place and putting the bolt in without the spring it just started to slide back and then bound up, it starts to slide on the rails at the front angled points that match up with the receiver but then you could see that the cover is sitting too high and is not in line with the bolt so it binds. Now had to file down the bottom edges of the cover to allow it to drop down and be in a straight line with the bolt carrier grooves, now it was sitting up on the cross bolt retainer block so the bottom of that had to be filed down also so it sat down on the edges of the cover. CAUTION: If you have to file down the bottom edges of the cover to get it to fit don't go to far on the the front angled tabs and as you take material off the bottom edges it takes it off the tabs also and they could end up short and not fitting tight which will allow movement and affect your poi/zero. Next the cross bolt hole is lined up and everything is moving perfectly but the pin will not go through, using emery cloth rolled up to form like a pin had to file the pin hole until I could get the pin to go half way through then a small mallet and a couple of taps and it was all together and tight as can be, field stripping will not be able to be done unless I have something to tap the cross pin out. After 8-9 hrs of filing and fitting I noticed as I worked the rail was getting loose and looser, but paid no attention to it as I planned on removing and loc titeing the mounting screws as noted in most all reviews that they come loose. Well two things became a problem, as I removed the screws I noted they where broomed up by whoever installed them, I then noticed that the hole in the rail is a larger size than the screw and it is floating all over the place, I loctited and put it together but I could not get them torqued to proper value as the bit kept jumping out of the slot in the screw head from being broomed up. What to do, I don't want to send this back and start all over with the hrs of labor to make fit, all I need is the two mounting screws so called up Barska and they are going to mail me the screws but the catcher is then won't send outside the US, so I have to make a trip across the line to pick up at my mail box I happen to have for these purposes. The idea of still being able to use the iron sights might be good for some but as my eyes can't use the iron sights that is why I'm putting this on, it is way too high. I mounted the red dot sight and my chin doesn't even touch the top of the stock, so it is impossible to get a cheek weld. Mounting a scope will be no better. I'm not using this for hunting but as a fun plinker under 100yds, so when I get the screws to mount the rail to torqued value we'll see what it does. In the meantime I'm looking for another cover with the rail sitting right on the cover hoping it will get the sight low enough that I can get some cheek weld and hopefully make my shooting a little more accurate and also knowing that I have to go through the file fitting operation again. Broomed up screws, sloppy hole to screw fit and no instructions in the package bring my rating way down, if not for that I'd give it a 4 rating, as we know you have to fit these things to each gun so you can't knock it for having to work it to fit.
