short and sweet
From brief sketches of mixed Indian/European race people fighting for their independence just north of the USA, to Quebec never signed their constitution, this American learned many things from this splendid little book. Highly recommended.

A good overview
Nice, brief, outline of Canada’s history. A good start while learning about Canada. Unsure if more is available about indigenous population and precolonial time. As this would be nice to even out the overview.

Interesting
The book's concise format makes it a suitable introduction to Canadian history for those seeking a quick but informative overview. While covering a broad range of topics, the author manages to focus on key events and themes that played pivotal roles in shaping Canada's trajectory. The narrative is well-balanced, avoiding overly romanticized or overly critical perspectives. The author presents historical events and figures objectively, allowing readers to draw their conclusions about the complexities of Canada's past. One potential improvement could be the inclusion of more visual aids, such as maps or illustrations, to enhance the reader's understanding of geographical and historical contexts. Additionally, a more detailed exploration of specific periods or events might appeal to readers with a deeper interest in certain aspects of Canadian history.

A Brief History of Canada
It is a quick read that let me have a basic and accurate understanding of how Canada was before John MacDonald became the Prime Minister.

A brief history of Canada
It is unfortunate that the lives and cultures of the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit through violence and unacceptance of the rights of cross-cultured first people of the countries are often subjected to extermination, as was the case with Canada. The residential school system where children were forcibly removed and coerced into learning white cultural systems and beliefs is definitely a setback for the people of indigenous origin and the country as a whole.Canada is a beautiful country and over the years not only Europeans but people of Asian descent have made her their home. With a modern-day booming economy, the country is loved for its vast expanse of land, gorgeous natural wonders, and laws that work on the belief system of tolerance and fairness to all, irrespective of race, religion, or ethnicity.

Brief but insightful overview
Not having the appetite for a treatise on Canadian history, this book was the perfect overview of Canada’s history, hitting many points that this resident of Canada’s neighbor to the south never knew before. We’ll written and insightful on a number of key issues, including French and British relations and terrible treatment of the indigenous populations over the centuries.

Too brief
I knew that the book was brief, but it is too brief. With 64 pages and printed with a large font, anyone can finish this book in a couple of hours and it does not provide more information than a quick Google search about the history of Canada.

Succinct and Informative
I live in the US only an hour away from Canada and have visited there multiple times. We learned virtually nothing about Canada's history in school. I read this to learn more about our neighbor - and was glad that I did.Although well researched, this is not a long boring history book. Instead the author gives the important facts that shaped a nation and its relationship with its neighbor.I'll read more of this author's books on other countries just to be better informed.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about Canada.

Exceedingly brief history
Only 56 pages long and therefore an exceedingly brief history lacking any detail. The history of Canada West of Ontario is covered by the words 'John MacDonald was keen to expand Canada's territory....he championed the building of a vast, transcontinental railway'.The book is very small, but a big disappointment.
