Similar to sunflowers, safflower offers high nutritional value. It's distinguishing feature however, is that it is liked by birds most of us want to see such as cardinals and mourning doves. As squirrels do not like safflower, it makes an excellent choice if you would like more birds than squirrels in your feeding area.

I am not sure
safflower isn't a bird favorite and it's the last thing taken at my feeders, but I have spoiled birds. These seeds are smaller than what I am used to in safflower but it was a good price, so I am glad I bought it.

Not quality seed
I bought this bag of safflower seed because it was cheaper than the first one I had bought. The first time I bought safflower seed the birds ate it up, and wasted nothing. This seed is different. The birds throw more than half of it on the ground and it immediately grows into little plants that you have to take care of. It's better to pay more for seed that will be eaten.

Squirrel proof
Squirrels and the bully black birds do not like this seed. The other birds love it.

Packaging for delivery was poor
The product is fine, but disappointed in how Amazon packaged for delivery. Thin, uninsulated mailing bag was ripped through original package and birdseed was starting to come out. Had to open very carefully to minimize loss.

Great seed for caged bird
My bird loves these seeds. He is 20 year old Hanh’s Macaw, in great health and eats this and veggies.

Squirrels hate it and birds love it!
Birds will eat it and the squirrels definitely don't like it! Mission accomplished.
