A Must Have for Your Fireplace!
I've never seen anything like this. This grate completely changes how our fireplace works. I don't know why vertical grates haven't been standard for years - this concept must be new-ish technology.Lots of pros:1. Lights very easy compared to flat grates. We could add new big logs within 10 minutes of starting with the usual kindling at the bottom.2. Easy to add new logs - as the fire heats up, it is just so easy to put another log on top.3. That wall of flame really puts out the heat.4. Lasts a long time - there is room for more logs.5. Doesn't need constant re-adjustment of logs.6. Nicer fire to watch than traditional grates.7. The "Titan High-Efficiency Log Grate with Reflective Fireback" is really a good deal compared to the other brand vertical grate. This one is only $125 with both grate and back plate vs. well over $300 or more for that other brand. I haven't tried the expensive brand, but I doubt there is significant difference.Con:1. Doesn't come with a printed manual - but just a web address. It was simple to assemble with 4 bolts, but perhaps the online manual has hints for optimal fire building. But we were at a remote cabin with no internet, so an online manual was worthless. But if you have a traditional fireplace, I highly recommend switching to this vertical grate - it really is a better fire experience in all ways.

Fixed the problem
We removed an old blower and front because we could not keep the fire going and it didn’t put out heat. Put this grate in and threw a fire starter in and haven’t had to mess with the fire at all. Lots of heat and the fire burns bright.

10x better than the regular grate! Solid build at a great price! Highly recommended!
This grate is awesome! It forces the wood to be stacked closer together, so they burn more efficiently. The configuration also helps a bit with logs that are slightly wet; I use a bottom up fire. The backplate does a good job deflecting heat to the front. There are other similar grates on the market, but they sell the backplate separately for a total of 2x the cost. Construction is solid and it is heavy (~60lbs).Did I mention it is also very attractive? I bought one for every fireplace and people ask about it when they come over. It's even makes people want to use their fireplace more.Highly recommended! Get yours now!

More heat, less tending, but goes through wood faster
After a dozen or so fires I'm really enjoying this. It's very sturdy and feels durable. With logs that are generally round it does a great job of self-feeding, Triangular logs occasionally get jammed and need a bit of a poke to drop down. The only issue I have with this is that there is no way to adjust the angle of the back radiator to match the angle of my firebox. The radiator is is fixed at 90 degrees while my firebox has a slight inwards angle. This means that I lose about 2 inches of depth.

An impressive upgrade to the fireplace
I'm very pleased with this. It does the job I got it for and then some! It protects the fire box walls well and should help prevent degradation of the mortar joints, but I'm very impressed with how much more heat my fireplace puts out now and how well larger logs burn. The steel bars of the grate are thick and sturdy too, which it definitely needs from how hot it gets. All in all its a great purchase, well worth the money

This was a gift
This was a requested gift for my son! He is thrilled with the product! A friend of his got this and loved it! So far he is thrilled! Well made and gives out good heat and he lives in older house with high ceilings! Wow
The media could not be loaded. Wow I am impressed by this. We purchased the grate/back combo to try to help solve our smoke problem and it works. Because the wood falls in to the back of the fireplace the smoke largely moves up in to the chimney instead of in to our house. This grate also surprisingly made the fire last longer. An unexpected pleasant surprise.

Great solution, quality construction.
I've been looking for something to increase the efficiency of our wood fireplace without going to the expense of buying an insert and this fit the bill! I had been looking at buying a fireback when I came upon this grate and thought it would solve many issues I have with my fireplace: protecting the aging masonry, providing extra heat, and preventing logs from rolling around. Plus it was only a bit more expensive than the cheapest fireback I could find!Assembly was easy, especially since I got the hubs to do it. ;) Our first fire burned hot and was easy to light. This grate even works well with my weirdly sized, salvaged firewood from wind-fallen timber as you just pop a log on top and don't have to worry about oddball pieces rolling around.
