Loved this book. Took it on my recent trip and it has everything you need. Great descriptions with hours and prices. It also gives history and tips on everything there is to do. The Black Hills are beautiful.

South Dakota is a great state to visit and this book covers the western part of the state pretty well. It might have been nice if they had included the rest of the state as well though. It probably wouldn't have taken more than a few extra pages.

I took my boyfriend to South Dakota for his birthday in February and this book really helped me nail down the itinerary. The author clearly has a lover for her state and gave us great suggestions for dining, attractions, events and must sees!

The book is an easy to use guide. Sometimes guidebooks have you needing a magnifying glass to see information and flipping back and forth to maps and keys. It has sections based on area with a detailed map. Nice!

Not many pictures and I would like more maps of the areas included.

I like how it explains the different things to do in the different regions that you are going to attend in detail

Moon guides are always good because they're written by locals. I've used them in several places around the country and was excited to see a new edition about the Black Hills and Badlands! I'm a local myself, and have found lots of information in this guide that I didn't know about my own area, from hikes to restaurants and hotels to history and geology to tourist attractions worth seeing. Ms. Bidwell has done the work, written up her research concisely, and given travelers a ton of options for fun and learning, and even a "top 9 things to see" list! I've picked up a couple more of these and will give them as Christmas gifts to friends who are interested in visiting. Hopefully it'll prompt them to come, and I know Bidwell's book will ensure they have a good time whether I'm available to squire them around or not.

The author is very knowledgeable of the Black Hills area. It is user friendly, with color coded chapter topics .A must have book if you are in the area. As a life long residence of SD, I highly recommend this book.
