Edge of Tomorrow [4K Ultra HD] [2014]

Fantastic movie. Mr Cruise & cast knock the ball out of the park. Shame there was never an encore.

Good alien invasion movie, a decent slant on the old time loop story, the Tom Cruise character dies and lives again nudging the story forward a little bit more each time. Some of the battle suits and scenes are slightly similar to Starship Troopers. Great chemistry with the two main stars. The special effects are excellent and the sound is great. If you want a thoroughly good watch for a 100 minutes or so this is a film that fits the bill. Not sure why this not a big hit the only real negative is the cheesy tacked on ending (no spoilers) which wasn't needed. Enjoyable.

A rollicking great movie experience, and one of my personal favourites.Yes, there are a few inconsistencies in the character development of Major/Private Cage - Superhero, but it's a complex issue and to enjoy the movie you have to let go of the need for perfection. They should have died at the end, but they didn't, because people don't want that. Because at the end of the day, that's impossible. A little bit of romance threading its way through a story gives something back to you and like it or not, that's the way we operate. Because surely what makes us human is our ability to love. If you don't like it, then take a number and sit at the back.Make no mistake however, this is a superhero movie: Vrataski being superhero #1 and Cage, superhero #2, forged in the heat of battle. Remember what Master Sergeant Farrell said? "Battle is the Great Redeemer. It is the fiery crucible in which true heroes are forged. The one place where all men truly share the same rank, regardless of what kind of parasitic scum they were going in." The only difference between this and most other 'superhero' films is that there will be no sequel, no cashing in on a big franchise, because at the end of the last reel, it's over, and a new reality is born.Action sequences, general photography and CGI are all outstanding, as are the fighting suits and multitudinous bits of military ordnance that get sprayed all over the place. As for the screenplay - it's awesome - the minor characters have a chance to breathe and we're drawn into the pitiful lives of a bunch of redneck grunts juxtaposed, as they are, with The System, that mindless conglomeration of politics and brass that, if it had been left up to them, would have doomed the world. And who knows? Maybe they will yet.A truly excellent film, with an uplifting, albeit slightly corny ending. I mean come on, you know the Major was going to get to 'Rose' in the end, didn't you? After all that Hell, a man needs a little taste of Heaven.

Really well made 'Nolanesque' alien shoot-em-up. Enjoyed it immensely. I suppose my only grouse would be that the aliens always seem like the old 'space invaders' games where no one is quite sure who they are, how they managed to develop interstellar travel or why they would bother travelling across such vast distances simply to deny everyone the chance to see the Mona Lisa up close and personal.

This is the special French import steelbook version that comes with booklet and picture cards. 2 disks. 1 is the 4k version and the other is the standard blu ray version. Wording on the back package is in French. The booklet that comes with this version is composed of pictures from the movie. Except for the 1st page, which is in french, there are no other working in the booklet. All pages are pictures from the movie. Picture cards have the UDF logo from the movie on them, and any wording is in engljsh. Movie disk menu is in English. There are english subtitles. Will play in my blu ray player. I don't know if it requires a region specific player as mine is an international one. So buy at your own risk if in the USA. Picture quality is good. Colors are crystal clear. As for the story itself, you must judge for youself. I liked it. Tom Cruise is great. So is Emily Blunt.

Impress effects but ruined by the Tom Cruise character being inconsistent about how his experiences change him. Before he actually talks to Emily Blunt we see him dying again and again, and in doing so he gets braver, more resourceful, more skilled in combat and he virtually turns into a super soldier himself but then for some reason he reverts back to the ordinary scared man who then refuses to help when asked to die again (and again) to save the world. That makes no sense. He has changed - we see it happen and we see him turning into a man with a mission (make first contact with Emily Blunt) but for some reason we are asked to accept that he is still the same pen-pushing ordinary bloke after making contact with her. This means that his own personal journey happens too fast and, he peaks too fast, so he has to virtually forget what must have been months of experiences so that he can change back into the hero again nearer the end. This messed the film up for me completely. I could have coped with the "tributes" to Saving Private Ryan, Starship Troopers, Groundhog Days, Aliens etc but not illogical characters.

Great story. DVD arrived in a timely manner and played in my machine with no issues.Would definitely recommend.

Excelente película, no soy fan de Tom Cruise, pero la historia es muy original y te mantiene expectante todo el tiempo, es de esas películas que puedes ver muchas veces y no te aburre.
