If all you need is mono sound loud enough to hear, this gets the job done on the cheap.It's not good enough sound quality for music in my opinion. Sound from speakers over HDMI from a monitor is often bad to terrible. It's also very limited in volume as is often the case with many laptop PCs. This little speaker has a lot of volume. It's a good alternative to more expensive powered stereo speakers or Bluetooth speakers. These days there are many fairly small Bluetooth speakers that sound amazing. They also need a PC with a Bluetooth adapter and a source of power. Most of the smaller ones have a rechargeable internal battery. This little speaker gets it's power from any spare USB port and plugs directly into the audio out jack. You never have to worry about charging it or giving it an additional power source. It is a simple Plug-N-Play devise. To me, it's not great quality sound for a speaker but very good for the size, price and simplicity.

We drive long distances in the summer - a lot of motels. Motel TVs work fine but, with sports ruined now, have very dicey shows. But motels all have good wifi now, so it's no trouble to dial up Netflix or Prime on my laptop and watch a show off of it. The trouble is that sound from a laptop is really feeble. So I picked this gadget up, and it improves things greatly. We could watch Netflix from 6' away and the sound was perfectly clear. I wouldn't watch Star Wars or Ford vs Ferrari with this speaker (you want a healthy home theater for that) but the normal show comes across very nicely. There are two of us, so earphones wouldn't do the trick. Anyway, for the money, this is a great gadget if you want to watch shows or movies on a laptop.

These small speakers are powerful! They are so very easy to use - just plug, and play...how simple is that? My only drawback comes with the audio. The speaker sits on 4 small feet and the audio is pointed down to the surface where the sound hits. Laying it on it's side takes care of that. Great value. Hoping that the unit will last a very long time. Super convenient!

I purchased this for my laptop PC which lacks sufficient volume with most videos. This sound is reasonably good, of course without the stereo effect. I bought this specifically because it was a single unit which is important for laptop use. I also used a USB power cube to power the unit so I did not lose two USB ports. That was my decision, but if your laptop has a sufficient number of USB ports, it won't be an issue for you. Well worth the price.This is an update to my review. I purchased this on June 28, 2020 and it worked great until now. Tonight, the speaker was "dead", no light and no sound. When I looked further, the plastic volume switch is melted, to the point that the volume control is locked in position. I can only guess that there was a short someplace in the volume switch. Maybe this is only relative to my particular unit, but I don't know.

IT IS make a difference. It's loud enough, just enough not super loud. If to compare with laptop speakers, Bass and middle tones are added. Trebles are fine. Sound quality becomes really reach if to listen music. It's 1 speaker, though. I got it for my wife's old mother Skype calls, so she could hear better. It will serve the purpose. The page description shows 3.5mm jack with TRRS (4 pins), but it came with TRS (3 pins). Nevertheless, the speaker works fine with TRRS input Laptop, no bridge adapter is required. It's about fist size, well constructed. On wire Volume control is really handful feature, that gives you fast and simple access to sound level. All in all and such a low price it's have to have it for any laptop.

I bought this because the speakers on my Acer laptop just didn't have enough volume. Also wanted a single speaker so it didn't take up much room. Powered it with an external USB adapter and used the Bluetooth because I didn't want any wires dangling from the laptop. Everything worked out nice and clean. A tip for those who say the USB plug is defective : When I first plugged it in it didn't want to work so I gave the USB plug a shot of electronic contact cleaner and it straightened it right out.

I am using it as a computer speaker. Works well. Easy to use. Good sound.
