I learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
I really should have known or remembered more about Viking life as I'm a British citizen. The coming together of the Vikings and Christians is one of the most important things that ever happened on this island. I am going to start watching things to do with Viking history now as this book has made me more curious about this civilization. In some ways, they were very advanced and in some ways they were barbaric, they are certainly interesting people in the modern person's eyes. Child support, wealthy women, and arranged marriages on one hand, on the other hand, human sacrifices and a possibility of being killed for infidelity. When you add the Gods, Dragons, and Giant Wolves to the mix of religion and myth it's a very interesting and tough world they live in. Really enjoyed this.

Very short essay, not a detailed book as expected for price.
This book was disappointing. It is a printed essay, not the book expected. Very expensive and underwhelming as bought for a gift. Very expensive for what it is. Would not have bought if saw it first.

informative
Typical media tropes have portrayed vikings in a bad light for a long time, misrepresenting them on many accounts. This book shows the vikings in their true form, villagers, farmers, warriors, marauders, pagans, christians, even bee keepers for goodness sake. there is so much more than Hollywood et al portrays, I enjoyed this book and am considering buy others in this series of historic guides.

Vikings History!
I'm just fascinated by the Vikings and Scandinavian's amazing history and this book were so well written and got hyped up again about this subject. It is a very well-researched book about their history religions beliefs habits profession and so on. Not surprised why so many movies are based on them! Definitely recommended for whoever loves to know more about their story.

A surprisingly good fan book
A suprisingly good book: well written, well edited and formatted, with no spelling or typographic mistakes. The author is not a scholar, or he would at least have heard that the term Viking is probably derived from "Vik," the historical name for the area near today's Oslo. Some sections are uninformative or not clear, for example the descriptions of Viking art--either clearer descriptions (specifically, what art objects were produced in those styles, for example?) or some illustrations may be useful. But there are fun sections on Viking diet, living in a long house and personal hygiene habits. This is really a "fan book": if you are into Vikings and are glad to talk about them, you will enjoy this. If you prefer something more scholarly and still fun to read, I recommend Torre Skeie's "The Wolf Age" or Lars Brownworth "The Sea Wolves."

Brilliant
Wonderful writing about a fascinating topic. I have actually learned quite alot about these ancient people. Just one criticism- I would have like to see the phonetic spelling and sounds of some of the words in order to learn to properly pronounce them and from a linguistic point of view it would have been interesting to see how their language effected the English we speak today

More than a Band of Warriors
If the names Ragnar, Cnut, Hervor, or Freydis are new to you, then consider reading about these legendary Vikings, their battles, and their fascinating culture. This short, informative publication by Mr. Russo sheds light on, uncovers, the entire Viking culture. It also includes a long list of references with hyperlinks. An interesting read.
