Mechanical keyboard, ergonomic keyboard: pick two
This is exactly what I wanted: a mechanical keyboard with an adjustable split design, negative tilt, wrist support, and quiet keys. The layout of keys such as page-up, page-down, home and end took a little getting used to, but I can type pretty quickly now.I was moving from the old Microsoft Natural Keyboard which feels like typing on rubber domes. The Natural however had a good ergo layout. While The Matias Ergo Pro may not look attractive, it offers a very similar ergonomic experience, but with the benefit of crisp mechanical keys. The low force edition feels most like MX Brown keys. It's not loud or springy. The keys move down smoothly and linearly, and activate when they hit bottom. However, since the keys have a low-force spring and not excessive key travel distance, you can lightly touch-type on it without missing keystrokes. If you like shallow key depth of notebook (chiclet-style), you'll need to adjust your typing style for the longer keystrokes. If you like the mid-stroke activation (and tactile click) of MX Blues, you won't find that here. However, this is really the only quality mechanical keyboard available in ergonomic design.I use mine every day at work. I have noticed the wrist rest fabric beginning to fray (or visibly wear) in just a month of daily use, exactly where the ball of my left wrist rests on it. It's cosmetic, I might find something to cover the wrist rest with, such as a cloth cut to fit over it. The built in wrist rests are of the silicone gel, and supports your hands but still offers enough give to be comfortable. It is covered in some kind of soft nylon or polyester fabric. I'm surprised it is starting to show wear so soon. I would also like to see an option to create more vertical "tenting" (angling the side of each half that faces the other higher, creating a more exaggerated slope). I was able to do that my putting a pack of PostIts notes under the feet, but a larger range of height adjustments would be nice.

Great Design. Low-Force Model Misses the Mark
I bought this after some issues with my wrists and shoulders came up. The independent pieces make it so that I can place my arms naturally while I type. I love the construction of this thing as it is very sturdy and heavy.I am not a big fan of the switches used on this keyboard. This is a very subjective thing, but for me the keys are overly sensitive and wiggle WAY too much. I am also on my second keyboard as the first one had a few defective keys (right shift stopped working, C, X and others frequently got stuck). To their credit, the company has great service--Matias sent me a replacement without any hassle. Still too sensitive and wiggly, some sticking issues are still present. I'm thinking about replacing the switches and seeing how that works out.In summary, I love the design of the Ergo Pro but the quality/reliability of the low-force edition switches misses the mark. Stick to the original if you're on the fence.

Nice keyboard, but not quiet at all
I would give this keyboard a higher rating, except that 1) I thought it was wireless and it isn't, and 2) I bought the low force model which is supposed to be quiet, but when I tried typing on it during a meeting I was told to stop because the noise was distracting. That said, for day-to-day use at my desk I am enjoying it and it hasn't flared up my tendonitis. The wrist rest is very comfortable.

Not for programmers who can touch type
I'm trying to like this keyboard. It takes a light touch, but there are several design shortcomings from my perspective.1. The 6 key is on the right hand keyboard, not the left. The reach is too far.2. The windows keys is left aligned with the Z key.3. The ALT key is too small.4. The END key is not well placed.5. No 10 key configuration6. The rear elevated configuration rocks due to tripod effect. This might be a good keyboard once you get used to the rocking and odd key layout, but it is hard to imagine I'll ever get used to the ALT and 6 key locations. The 6 key should be above the T key, not the Y key.Edit: Changing to 3 star, as keys are prone to double typing if very light debris gets under a key. They need to find better switches, put the 6 key on both halves (like the space bar is on both halves).Edit: Changing to 1 star, as the keys are prone to double typing even after performing the maintenance specified by Matias. Never again will Mattias fool me.

Poor quality control, but may be repairable
Layout is good except for the crazy control key on the right half. Tilt and key feel are good. The main problem is that several keys repeat letters when hit, as many other reviews note. I seem to have fixed this problem by disassembling the problem switches and bending the lower copper contact slightly away from the upper one, then carefully reassembling the switch without bending the spring. A key cap remover tool and a pair of thin-bladed tweezers make this job easier.Update 2022-02-07: While it's possible to repair a switch as described above, the repair does not appear to be permanent. At least, I was not able to get a permanent repair. This keyboard has gone in the trash, and I recommend that you look elsewhere for a split ergo keyboard.

Great keyboard. Typing most of the day and it ...
Great keyboard. Typing most of the day and it relieves the discomfort I felt from my wrists, shoulders, chest, and neck when using a ms natural keyboard. The separation on that was just not enough for me. This keyboard allows me to separate enough allow my whole upper body to position naturally. Keyboard has great feedback and the noise is like mechanical but softer sounding I think.

Two Stars
Awkward is best word for someone accustomed to curved ergonomic keyboard. I would like to return it.
