In response to at least one review stating these bookmarks are plastic, they are indeed real wood. They are most likely veneer and the grain shows well with both stain colors. The "handmade" part is questionable since the designs are likely laser etched/engraved to have such accurate detail, guess it depends on one's definition of handmade. They are thicker than paper bookmarks for obvious reasons, they are made of wood. Any thinner they would break too easily. If you want a paper thin bookmark, get a paper bookmark. Of the four I received in the plant series set, the thinnest one is a hair over 1mm and the thickest one is 2mm. I put considerable bending force on them and they did not break.

I read quite a bit and I had been debating back and forth if I wanted to buy these particular bookmarks. Finally decided to do so and they are well worth the money spent! Neatly packaged, everything arrived on time. The engraving on each bookmark is very unique and clear. They aren't too big and they fit nicely inside of my books. You can't go wrong at all with these!

I bought three boxes of these. I kept two bookmarks for me and the rest I gave away as gifts, and they were very well received. These bookmarks are very well made. The wood is smooth and the designs are beautifully carved. The bookmarks are not too thick as not to fit well in a book, and are not too thin to be easy to break. These bookmarks have a lovely Asian aesthetics, and I really enjoy using them.

These were great upon arrival expect for the smell which I assume came from the packaging or manufacturing process.They appear to be a good quality crafted item that was mass produced but the smell takes a couple of days to go away once outside of box.Does what I need them to do.

Gift for my uncles library. He displayed them instead.

Good overall just a little too thick, also a little too girly.

whilst these are suitable for use and look quite good, i am amazed that of all the reviews I read AND the product description, no-one has stated the obvious, these items are mass-produced plastic punched out items and are clearly NOT WOOD! All you need do is turn one over to its super-smooth back and try to scratch it with a sharp knife - PLASTIC!!

Really wanted something to stand out as a book mark and these really hit the spot. Very deceptive and make you feel like you’re saving your page with a piece of art.
