Not a recorder, just a toy night vision optic.
I had low expectations purchasing this due to the typical lower quality electronics Nerf uses for their toys (Elite Camera ECS-12 and Elite Battlescout cameras, respectively) compared to the expensive professional equipment on the market today. Nerf Guru, “Coop” showed the world through his YouTube channel that this was not so great, and that also helped to lower my expectations going into this review. At first glance, I found it to be a lot larger in person. This thing is a hulking monstrosity of an attachment. After installing the 4 AA batteries (not included) to operate this optic sight, I noticed the weight of the attachment increased considerably to the left. There is a knob on the right that supposedly tightens the attachment part’s grip on the tactical rail, but it can still be removed even though it is in the locked position. It just keeps it a bit more secure when the user is running about, which is about enough to prevent it from falling off and breaking (provided it does not hit rocks or something solid like tile or a cemented surface). The rubber screen shroud is firm and provides better coverage than the Elite Camera ECS-12 blaster’s camera shroud, and actually does block some [lower level] sunlight from distorting your view of the screen. There are 7 Infrared LEDs surrounding the camera lens which is sunk into the middle to allow it to see things in the dark with less interference from the LEDs themselves than if it were to be right flush up next to it. Coop said in his review that the day vision worked better than the night vision at night, but mine performed better in the dark using night vision mode, as depicted by the hieroglyphics next to the switch on the top left near the back of the attachment. This switch is obviously used to switch between the modes; night, day, and off (moon, sun, and O). The other switch on the top center of the attachment is the zoom toggle switch. This switch allows you to zoom in and out x1, x1.5, x2, x3, x4, and x5. There is no lag, and if there was, it must have been very little because I was unable to detect any. The day screen setting shows in grey, black, and white with some hints of blue and orange accents that are still slightly visible. As expected, the night screen setting is shown in different hues of green and black. In conclusion, this is a very cool and fun tactical attachment that does what it is designed to do for the amount you pay for it, so it is highly suggested that if you were planning on purchasing this product, that you try to get it on sale if at all possible. Whether you feel it justifies it’s use as a toy or not is strictly your own opinion, but let it be known that it operates in both the light and in the dark enough to allow for those in favor of this device to be considered a valid choice... if tactics are your thing.

Love it!
It works great and easy, it click it on, it loads for only a second then your set. Kids pick it up and almost immediately know how to use it. It’s built well and sticks on most nerf guns with rails. It doesn’t weigh too much so don’t worry about throwing off balance. I would recommend this to anybody who is really into nerf guns.

Not a gimmick a semi real deal!
Usually products like this are not very good or false advertisement however this is a very surprising, first off this is not the best of the best night vision in nor is it very effective however with the amount you pay and what you get is 100% worth it, with the low lighting setting outside it’s not the greatest very short ranged outside but works at medium ranges inside, the The infrared works pretty well at night when identifying buildings and creatures however it’s not super detailed and with the small screen it makes some things hard to identify, kids would definitely have fun with this adult wise it brings enjoyment for the price you’re not going to go tactical with it or hunting with it per say but it’s great for sightseeing or backyard night games

Does what it says it does decent enough for the price.
First off is a disclaimer. I bought this as a cheap alternative to shelling out lots of money for a high quality night vision optic for airsoft use. I am NOT using this product on nerf guns. This product does in fact makes use of actual genuine IR night vision technology although the resolution is very low. You can still make out a man-sized target at around 100 feet in low light conditions. The IR LEDs emit a dim red glow which should be noted. They resemble the LEDs you would find on a security camera. Overall I'd say that this product is pretty cool as someone who has never owned any type of night vision device before and does its job to the point you'd expect for the price. It should also be worth noting that the day mode still works surprisingly well in dim conditions as the camera lets a LOT of light in. The refresh rate is much lower without the IR turned on however. To anyone else planning to use this for airsoft or otherwise non nerf products, it will not easily fit onto a picatinny rail and you may need to find other means of attaching it or modify the product a bit. Update: If you are going the same route as me, buying a cheap infrared torch amplifies this thing's capabilities immensely. The resolution is still bad, but combined with a 300 lumen IR flashlight (which I only paid $12 for), I could easily see things almost 500 feet away with the flashlight set to spotlight mode.

Remember it's a Toy
Things I like. 1. It instantly makes any blaster look tacticool (coop fan) lol. 2. It's pretty neat seeing the darts shoot across the screen. 3. Night vision works great considering it's just a toy. 4. The lock is really cool to help it stay on the blaster. Things I don't like. 1.zoom function is absolutely useless do not use it to keep it in 1x and you'll be fine. trust me. All in all. I recommend this attachment is pretty cool it's a gimmick. And just remember it's a toy it's not going to be perfect. But this will be a really cool attachment to have 20 years from now.

For a Toy, Wow!!
This product is a toy, and not to be seriously used as real night vision, obviously. BUT! It works SO well enough to see in the dark. The range is definitely limited, and the image is not the smoothest, but you can definitely see in the dark an easy 15 ft away. I love that it can also switch to normal lighting and the 5x zoom works in both normal and night vision mode, although the zoom doesn't enhance the image quality. Just note, there is no red dot or optic reticle. Surprisingly it can actually mount onto picatinny rails and stays on pretty well. I'm glad to have this night vision scope than to be without one.

You probably don't want to bother.
Hey, if you're under 18 and trying to convince your parents to get one of these, don't bother. It kinda works to see stuff at night but you can only see a space about a foot wide, from twenty feet away. Like, imagine playing Minecraft but you can only see a single block at a time. That's how bad it is. Your friends who aren't using a scope like this will shoot you a lot easier. During the daytime this scope can zoom in on stuff, but your darts will never go that far. It looks cool and you might get some shock and awe from it at first, and then you'll throw it in your closet after trying to use it for a week and not shooting anything better. Okay, are the kids gone? Cool, so I'm just gonna re-iterate what I said earlier. The field of view for this scope is utterly tiny. Trying to use this indoors is a non-starter. You might argue that this wouldn't be a problem outdoors where you can get further away from what you're shooting at, but you need to keep in mind how Nerf darts work. They don't launch with a ton of speed; Nerf darts fly more like artillery, and need to have an arc plotted out by the shooter in order to hit things at range accurately. You point your gun upwards to hit things further away from you. With this scope, you'll find yourself looking up to the sky in order to launch a dart with an accurate arc. Last but not least the night vision actually works! Sort of. Not really. In a totally dark room, you can see things by looking through that little screen. Sure you can! But that tiny field of vision, needing to aim up to be accurate... Maybe this could be useful if the scope had a 1x1 level of zoom, basically a setting with no zoom. That might make the field of view more bearable. As it is it starts at 1.5, and then 2, 3, 4, and 5 times zoom. In the daytime the zoom is maaaaybe a cool toy, but you can just look at the same thing with your eyes for how low the screen resolution is. Look, just don't bother. Get 3-d printed iron sights from Etsy plus some glowing darts. Those will get some use.

Great for your kids... but reminds you that your childhood sucked
Night vision and zoom features on a nerf gun. What else do you need to know? Your kids will love you and you’ll be parent of the neighborhood. But will those positives be enough to not make you envious when you remember that the best toys you had as a kid were a tamagotchi and Joe Montana Football ‘94? It was for me, but you might not be the parent I am. 5/5 would buy again.
