A pain to EDC but excellent as a flashlight.
So far, so good on the technical side. The interface is pretty clear once you've gotten the hang of it. Recharging is a snap since it uses the same micro USB / USB that everything else uses including probably your phone. The range of brightness settings is very sensible, with a nice clear color temperature, and if you want the blowtorch all-out battery draining setting it's both easy to reach and segregated from the other settings so you don't trigger it accidentally. Build quality seems rugged so far, though it seems like the enclosure's tolerances aren't super-consistent. Certainly everything works fine and I haven't been babying it. The CRI is well worth the price and lumens-- quality of illumination can often be more useful than raw output numbers. I'm assuming it uses PWM? If so, I can't see any flickering. Nicely done!I struggled between giving the TIP three and four stars. The technology itself (the emitter, interface, and build details) are clearly four or five stars. The problem is that this is intended as an EDC light. But how do you conveniently carry it? The clip protects the charge port and prevents accidental pressing of switches... but makes it a pain to pull out of your pocket and just use. The clip also comes off too easily for me to trust having it hold it into my pocket. The blocky design leaves lots of room for scratching other stuff in your pocket and makes it too big for keychain carry. There's a reason that most flashlights are cylinders or flat, and while I'd have been fine with an ovoid, this design manages to be the worst of both worlds plus having its own problems. It wouldn't take a lot to fix these things-- it's purely a question of industrial design. I can see how if it's the only thing you're carrying in your pocket (say for a review) then it seems great, but actual in-field use is a pain in the rear. I went with four stars because it really is an excellent light overall. All that said, I'm still EDCing it. It's a great little light and if you have a utility pocket or other way to carry it, then this is a game-changer. I feel like Nitecore or one of their competitors will refine this design in a future rev to make it more EDC-able, and then it'll be perfect.

Nichia LED renders true color with no loss of brightness compared to standard white LED
The TIP with the nichia lens really does render true colors better than the white light version which is rated at more lumens. Also, the lumen rating doesn't have a visible difference; when compared with my nitecore Tini with a white light, the TIP with the nichia LED lights up a room just the same, and actually has a slightly farther throw and renders objects in their true daytime color as opposed to making everything a reflective, glaring, white flash.I feel it is worth the extra few dollars for the better bulb, as it is no less bright. However, the item overall is slightly overpriced. The clip on the TIP is a silly and annoying way to prevent the power buttons from being pressed and accidentally turning on the light. The clip is a pain to get on and off to switch from one side to the other. Fortunately the light has a "daily mode" which will turn off after 30 seconds if the light is unintentionally turned on.

This is a perfect EDC light.
Great pocket EDC light ! The buttons are very tech-tile and the modes are simplistic, its also a featherweight in your pocket. The clip adds the functionality as well as providing a great button guard for when in the pocket. It also doubles as a cover for the charging port so you don't get any dust, lint or other unwelcome nonsense to impede charging or function. The CRI while you do sacrifice some lumen's provides good true to life light coloration so things are not washed out. Also for most basic every day tasks you really don't need 300 or 400 lumen's. The best function is the ability to charge instead of using a replaceable cell. This keeps cost down on an already value priced light.

Great light, but not durable
Beam pattern and brightness settings are perfect for both utility use and seeing the trail ahead on a night hike. Low light reading or filling up a room this thing has you covered.Sadly after only 3 months on my keychain the lens cover is shattered. Typical pocket carrying and nothing crazy. Still works but I would not recommend if water proof or durability are your primary needs.

This will make you use your old Maglights for tomato stakes.
I'm very impressed so far. I've only had this for a few days, but used it extensively clipped to a ball cap while working in the basement today, and it's perfect. Bought the CRI version, and the color rendering is much better than my regular LED flashlights- even if this means that you give up a little power (and this tiny thing has amazing power), the color is much better. Just buy it.

Bought for use as headlamp while hiking
So I bought this light to use as my headlamp while hiking. I'm giving it 5 stars because it checks pretty much all my boxes for what I was looking for. It's super light weight, it's plenty bright enough for any type of hiking I do (mostly long distance multi day hikes), the battery life is one of the best I've seen in this type of light and contrary to a few reviews on here I find it very easy to use, the buttons work well it's very intuitive with 2 buttons, 1 power button and a mode button. It will lock into the mode of your choice so that every time you turn it on its in the mode you left it in. Theres one issue I see with it though, and that is the charging port, it has almost no protection from water. The clip that it comes with goes over the port but it's hard plastic so it doesn't make any kind of seal around the port. I haven't used it in wet conditions yet so it hasn't been an issue but I'm worried its going to be an issue in the future, anyways if your looking for a good solid easy to use light weight flashlight/clip on headlamp this is definitely the one to go with.

expensive but very good flashlight
if you want an extremely good pocket flashlight this is it... It is VERY expensive but it is very well made. I don't think the CRI model is worth the added expense it looks just like any other white LED . you can find tear downs on Youtube if you want to know what is inside.
