Outstanding, odd collaboration but it works
Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck, yes a very odd combination but its brilliant. I was at one Jeff's last Royal Albert Hall concerts in the UK. It was a fantastic show as always he was one of the greats, Johnny being there halved the audience age and brought along many more women to the show. It was great. Buy this album.

Fitting tribute
Late lamented Jeff Beck superb with his partner in ‘crime’ Johnny Depp who must be both grateful and deeply saddened to have known then lost such a friend who was there in the dark days. This recording,I guess, will become a collector’s piece.

Brilliant Guitar Album
Wonderful album 💿 CD by the late great Jeff Beck guitar legend, and Johnny Depp brilliant musician and actor. Great guitar pieces and a fantastic rendition of “Isolation” by John Lennon sung by Johnny Depp who has a powerful , melodic singing voice as you can witness from his performances in “Sweeney Todd” (brilliant film musical) and“Into The Woods”.

Jeff and Johnny collaborate on a spirited but uneven album with some excellent highlights
I've been buying Jeff Beck albums for years, so the fact the Johnny Depp is on this record isn't exactly a selling point to me, but – at the same time – nor did it put me off. Like most people, I'm sure, I was curious to hear what this collaboration would sound like. In truth, this is a bit of an odd album with some rather unpleasant moments, but they are vastly outnumbered by the tracks that really do work and I think it's fair to say that most of the songs on 18 that I do enjoy have a stronger Beck influence than they do Depp. Most of the numbers here are cover versions, but they're performed rather well, such as The Beach Boys' Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder) and Caroline, No, with Beck's unique guitar taking over the vocal parts, and the The Miracles' Ooh Baby Baby, with Depp's vocals definitely not coming anywhere near the original, but still doing a more than adequate job. Marvin Gaye's What's Going On and The Velvet Underground's Venus In Furs also receive the Beck and Depp treatment; again, nobody with any kind of musical intuition or taste would be declaring these superior to the originals, but Jeff's guitar really does give them a special character and, as such, they're way more than just OK.One of the Depp originals, This Is A Song For Miss Heady Lamarr, is more than listenable, if not exceptional. It begins with a slight Space Oddity vibe and the spoken/sung verse and chorus are fine (almost Pink Floyd-like in places), but is very much rescued by the Jeff Beck guitar interludes. The very best of the bunch for me is their cover of John Lennon's Isolation, which was released as their first joint single back in April 2020, referencing the Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. It's a spirited and gutsy rendition of a very emotional, raw song John wrote for his first solo album and, being rather a big Beatles fan, covers of Lennon's music have to be exceptional for me to love them – I think this passes muster. Whilst I'm not entirely convinced that Johnny Depp has the kind of musical pedigree to collaborate on an equal platform with a legend like Jeff, their collaboration with has resulted in an interesting and creatively arranged selection of songs and their friendship has resulted in a spirited album that, otherwise, wouldn't have been made. Depp fanatics will probably love this record, whereas Beck fans will probably enjoy most of this release despite the presence of Depp. Either way, it's a mixed bag but there is plenty to like and appreciate on 18 – so called because making the album made both participants feel like they were eighteen again – but I can't be the only Beck fan hoping this is a one-off.

Jeff Becks last album
Disappointing! Not enough rock, too many ballady type tracks, and vocals not worthy of being in the same room as Jeff.
