Q: Directions say for silk water temp should be just below simmer. Is that safe for silk?

Silk is one of the toughest fibers there is. The only way this could mess up your silk is if there is structural creases or pleating in the silk. The hot water could remove folds. Never use bleach on silk!

Q: Would this work on lightening a blend of polyester, spandex, and nylon?

IT will work on the spandex and nylon. The poly might lighten slightly, but polyester color is very hard to remove.

Q: Has anyone tried this on cashmere?

This is fine on cashmere and won't damage it. The thing with Cashmere is that you need to be more careful about the temperature than other fabrics. High temp is ok, but quick transitions between temps is not good. So that means add your cashmere to the hot water on the stove from another bucket of the hottest water from your tap, and when you are done, rinse the same way. Transfer the sweater to hot water from the hot bath to remove the color, and then rinse in warm water. No hot to cold or cold to hot transitions. Hot water is crucial for this to work, and for a sweater i would get 2 packss or maybe the 2oz bottle.
