So he gets moe -art carney- even thoe he is mad at him for borrowing to much money he decides to do it. They are shockinly good izzy has a perfect shooting on the target and then they catch the 1st crooks by dressing up as baseball players izzy the coach. Then they bust the next batch of crooks by dressing up in sailor suits. The door says keep out and you must know the pass word but moe fakes a heart attack and they ask for booze and they caught them too. Then they dress up as ok cowboys and bust more booze only this time they made an error and they wernt crooks. The 4th time they bust a woman she tells them busting her would hurt them just as bad as it would hurt her and she flirts with moe. The main agent is real mad at izzy and moe for doing things there way so when he tells them to bust a boozing sherif he wants them to do it his way they dont listen moe dresses up as izzy's wife yes a woman with curly blonde hair a blue dress and glasses.they pretend to get remarried then they burt the sherrif. But then its to catch the main crook he has a truck full of booze he shoots moe's arm and kills harry another agent. Then izzy and moe steal the booze truck. At the end there the main crook is and he wants to kill moe or his new found moe was almost shot bv izzy saves him.so izzy's mom gets to light his cigar in a macys window he finaly did a decent thing. So if you want a great movie with wonderful acting by art and jackie they did a fabulous job being izzy and moe.

Great Movie, Crap Quality
I'm getting tired of streaming and buying digital movies and shows and having stutters or bad quality. I know this is an old movie but I've seen it before and it didn't look like I was watching it on dial-up. I'm on my third watch through of All Creatures Great and Small and have noticed loss of focus in the same spots on every watch. Whoever is in charge of video quality for this site needs help or a different job. Other free prime movies I've stopped watching because of the quality or audio issues/censoring.

Just as I Remembered
It’s been a long time since I watched this and I asked if we could rent it for a movie night. There was a lot of hesitation since I usually recommend older movies, but I PROMISED it was good- even though I couldn’t fully remember the actual movie. It was a hit. The humor, the acting, the historical accuracy, a true classic.

Two Greats In A Mediocre Movie
If you want to experience the unique chemistry between to legendary comedic actors (Gleason & Carney), then this is your cup of tea. Jackie Gleason and Art Carney can provide more laughs and chew up more scenery and dialogue than a hundred actors. Together, they were unparalleled. Sadly, this '85 TV movie was their swan song as a team. The reason for the 3-star rating had NOTHING to do with Gleason or Carney. It was the script. It was hackneyed and borderline banal. If the writer (Robert Boris) had taken the time to research and dramatize the actions and arrests of the real Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, there is no doubt that this would have been a much better movie and a fitting final "good-bye" for two fine and talented actors. Boris let them, and us, down.Still, the movie was fun to watch and it has its moments.....just not enough of them.

An old favorite
I've had the movie before (in VHS format) and purchased it again so I could have it. To the best of my knowledge, this was the last movie Gleason and Carney made together. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it is one of my old favorites.

Weak plot based on facinating real life people
They had a chance to make a meaningful film about two very interesting historical characters and chose to turn it into burlesque. Gleason and Carney would have done an outstanding job of portraying the real Izzy and Moe. Their exploits were so much better than the fictional pap served up in this movie. I gave it three stars simply out of respect for two great actors.

Old Gizzers Trying to be Elliot Ness
It's good. Starts off in sepia not in color & shows what's going on at the time as far as boxing, baseball, etc. It's the roaring 20s. Then the story takes off in color. Izzy & Moe are their usual funny selves. Two old gizzers /boozers looking for work. The only thing available is as prohibition agents. They get the job. The women involved are a lot younger & good looking than the old gizzers but that does not take away from the story.Very entertaining.

good stories from TV restored to dvd..worth watching
Jackie Gleason known as the great one really has a link with the ancient past the classical comedians. He uses his body and every aspect of himself, sounds, tone and often will take a comedic piece and do it deadpan since he wants to change its presentation and squeeze the comedy out of it. He also relies on his live TV audience to guage the comedy and how well its going the laughs. There recently were his live TV broadcasts, during the 50's the honeymooners lost episodes, the word lost is a misnomer since they were in his basement and not syndicated? They syndicated 39 classic episodes and did well with these these others, are not uniform and length and would need to be edited..but there perfect for DVD and one episode about child care he does it almost deadpan and although written to comic effect, as with all these episodes he often swings it and is spontaneous and it cant be cut somewhat like saturday night live..and here also from new york. Another episode Catch a falling star deals with with the ralph kramden character trying to get the star Jackie Gleason to appear as he works as a stand up at a club for $50 a night, is he worth it? There is much self effacing and self depricating humour and he pokes fun at himself and he's comfortable making fun at himself, and we get in these sketches he's someone with almost no ego, and despite the wealth he always harks back to his yyouth..for his identity he doesnt like the jackie gleason character and its funny in that way not caught up in his own fame..near the end of his career he teemed up with art carney to perform in a tv film an dits not great about prohibition type characters and the law and vaudeville..vaudeville harks back to the comedy he did and here its largely serious but not that interesting a film much more enhoyable is family plan.Aaron spelling who worked in the 50's and also provided much creative effort in tv maybe even soaps, here has his daughter and other cast members doing a drama about homes courtesy of Hallmark TV. At work some efficiency expert wants to improve performance so he entices the Spelling character to perfect a home life, here she has the name charlie like a male character, a character modelling themself on a man and we also have victoria, as in victorian times who separated from her husband and occasionly dates, and here we have unique personalities developing and many of the critics like this tv drama of home life concentrating there rather than finding values in people from the careers they have..what we are watching are characters in victoria of very old values and charli trying to be turned into a charlene..trying to find some unique character in their being. Charlie at the end remains kind of a tomboy and we get the idea shes a tomboy pretending to be a home person..those who are good in their homes are the best workers..and here Hallmark has hit on a good drama and the personalities here especially victoria come off nicely and we think modern..but if we look carefully she's really a character from the 1850's a religious heroine from that age or the plays of Shakespeare...who also look for uniqueness at times..but do we find charlie more likeable and the males are a sideshow and leave at film's end charlie's pretend spouse..he seems all too good and nice but cant find a home..all these intelligent and sophisticated people cant produce a happy home..nothing like the Nelsons..and they all end up at the end like all those Home Alone movies...the children are happy but the adults tear up the home..

The picture on the front of the disc is only one of their getups but it is the best one, I mean can you imagine Art Carney ...
Jackie Gleason and Art Carney together can only mean laughs! They join together to fight bootleg whiskey during prohibition.. And they do it their own way different from the feds who are supposedly going by the book. The picture on the front of the disc is only one of their getups but it is the best one, I mean can you imagine Art Carney in a woman's dress and walking in high heels. If you like them you have to see this. It is a treasure in itself.
