Even with the feather blades I use and higher priced castle Forbes products, I save a ton of $ over shaving with“modern” blades.
I use this water based preshave and either wet de or straight shave, then go for the 1445 for after. It’s been working well for years as I have sensitive skin and coarse facial hair. I get a better shave with this regiment than I ever did with Mach 17.5 blades (or whatever they’re up to now). Very few ingrown hairs, much clearer complexion. Will never go back. Even with the feather blades I use for my de razors, and the higher price tag of the castle Forbes products, I still save a bunch of money over shaving with modern blades.

Works; Pretty Expensive; All Natural Ingredients
This boutique pre-shave is pretty expensive. It does, however, work.I like that it is unscented, so it is not competing and/or mixing poorly with soaps, aftershaves, and balms.Well-packaged, with easy snap-up top for dispensing small amounts of product, which is all it takes.

No parabens in new formulation
I’m posting a picture of the ingredients list that I took from the back of the box. When I first purchased this product, I wasn’t sure if it had parabens because I got conflicting information from Google searches (apparently this pre shave used to be formulated with parabens). I can confirm there are no parabens in the current formulation.Chemical makeup aside, this is a great product that moisturizes my face and doesn’t clog my blade with excess oils.

Overpriced and no redeeming values.
I have used many preshave creams and lotions with this being the worst. It feels like very runny glycerine water. Grossly overpriced to boot. Bummer.

Top Shelf!
Fast shipping and great price from smallflower. I like the fact it is water soluble so it will never harm any of my brushes, as a few are pretty expensive. Does a good job softening and providing slickness and has no scent to interfere with my soaps or creams. I get great shaves. Good size bottle should last quite a while. Worth it!

Expensive but seems worth it
Expensive but really does work well. I was reluctant to spend this much for this kind of product so I had my wife get it for me for Christmas. Combined with traditional brush soap the shave is much closer, cleaner and less brutal for a tough beard.

Acceptable though not impressive
Through some research I learned that oil-based pre-shave oils could shorten the life and/or damage badger hair brushes over time. I decided to give this product a try as it was one of the only water-based pre-shave products I could find. I haven't noticed any particular difference in the quality of my shaves though there is certainly a different skin feel to the water-based products versus the oil-based; it feels much thinner on the skin. A fringe benefit is that clean-up of the sink and shaving items has become much easier since the oil-based products had a tendency to adhere to the cut whiskers much more.

Okay
I really wanted to like this product, but I would have to say that it is just okay. I like that this product is water soluble and won't mess up my brush and the fact that it helps to create a nice lather. I do not know if I am getting a closer shave or not but it does not offer much protection. $40.00 a bottle is for this is way to expensive.
