Some modification required for JD 790
Although I haven't lived with it for a while yet, this seems like a good replacement for my JD 790 utility tractor.Except... the bottom of this seat, for some reason, has a hole through to the inner filling right in the center of the seat. This is NOT the drain hole, which is further back. Although I'm assuming this is for compatibility with some other tractor model, in the case of the JD 790 it falls where the interlock switch must hit. There are also two metal supports which engage with the seat bottom on either side of the switch, and these would hit in an unprotected area of the seat bottom.I ended up buying a 5.5" x 9.5" sheet of 0.19 aluminum (6061-T6), drilling and countersinking four holes to match some of the (many) captive fasteners on the seat bottom, and attaching it with four 5/16"-18 x 5/8" flat head bolts. See the photos for clarification. So, something that I had hoped would be relatively simple turned into a bit of a project, but I'm happy with the result and hoping it will stand the test of time.

Money well spent !
This seat went on a 1992 JD 1070. I bough a new set of bushings on either outside and the 2 older ones were put on the inside pointing out in the middle. The OEM shaft was too small. New shaft was .498, 1/2" and had a good tight fit. (2) 1/2" solid collars completed the project. The doubling up on the bushings was a must and $18.00 each from JD. Silicone had to be used to put it ll together the fit was so tight. Use a socket n squeeze bar clamp to press in n out rubber bushings!

Universal anything doesn't mean that its going to be perfect for you
As someone else has reported the hole in the center of the bottom of the seat is a problem for tractors that have PTO safety switches. You can start the tractor, raise the bucket but if you try to use the PTO the tractor will die. Realize that the manufacturer is trying to satisfy the most customers with one versatile product but it does require the end users to add a solid cover plate, over the hole, in order to use the tractor as intended.

Works great on 1070
Perfect fit FOR A 1070. Not sure how it is on other models judging from the comments, but I installed it on my 1070 and works great with no modifications required. Comfort wise it’s a lot better then the old seat, can sit on the tractor longer without butt hurting

Fits John Deere 790
Bought this for my fathers tractor, a 2003 or 2004 John Deere 790 . He had it on in 5 minutes and said it went on with no problems or modifications.

It fits
Fit perfect on a John Deere 790. No problem with the cutoff switch, the entire bottom of the seat is plate steel. As good as or perhaps better than original. Did not have threaded screw holes for the slow vehical triangle on the back, but I just used some self tapping screws.

Nice seat
Fits good, 91john deere 670.Had to cover hole in bottom of seat for built in safty switch because mine is on tractor, easy to do. Drain hole for water keeps butt dry when I forget to raise seat up.
