Ahead of his time
Came across this by accident. Fascinating to see the evolution of ideas and the relationship / influence on Huxley and Orwell. (All art is theft lol) As with any image of the future the technology/ language is soon dated but the underlying human issues are still valid today.

Literary Metropolis
What an amazing book, before 1984 or Brave New World and more imaginative than either. Slightly dubious description of his African friend but that was then I suppose...Leapfrogs over the two books mentioned above with their political and cultural concerns and points straight to our current predicament, if everything is reduced to number, binary code ,bitcoin etc will humanity be far behind?

Groundbreaking
One State is a perfect society. No freedom means perfect happiness, and Chief Engineer D-503 is a perfect citizen. That is, until he meets I-330, a beautiful and dangerous woman who opens his eyes to new possibilities. The most amazing thing about We is that it is a Russian novel written in the 1920s, and yet it could have been written today. It explores the same ideas of utopian futures and challenges totalitarianism in exactly the same way that sci-fi novels still do now. We was clearly a strong influence for later works like Brave New World and 1984, but doesn’t seem to get as much attention – and it should. The utopian society is very well developed, and you can actually imagine how a society like the Once State could come into existence, while D-503’s descent into rebellion is also entirely believable. I loved the way this story is told – via log entries rather than a traditional narrative – and D-503 has a fantastic narrative voice. Sadly, the unfinished sentences and chaotic storytelling did limit my understanding of what was actually going on.Luckily I was able to understand my favourite part: The ending. Not because I was desperate for the book to be finished, but because the ending was genuinely shocking.

It’s a perfect anti utopian novel
It’s a perfect anti utopian novel by Zamystin. George Orwell was inspired by this book and wrote famous book 1984.

the totalitarian system
The book presages incredibly precise the totalitarian system with a complete control as the one the Bolsheviks developed and tried to maintain during their tenure. Where personal freedom is obsolete, everybody and everything is subjugated to the state. Punishment is considered a right: if the state punishes me, I surely must have done something wrong. Also, a lot of what he describes technology-wise is very futuristic but really accurate. A chilling account for those who lived through the cold war, especially behind the Iron Curtain. The essays and papers at the beginning of the end are very insightful; however the essay by Le Guin I felt totally out of context, the compare the Totalitarian system of the Bolsheviks with i.a. Nixon is extremely far-fetched and ridiculous and has no place in the same book cover as "We". I feel it is disrespectful of the suffering of those people who were at the mercy of the actual One State.

ottimo prodotto
era da tempo che cercavo una versione con copertina rigida in inglese, molto bella ben curata con prefazione e postfazione molto interessante...forse un unica pecca che ho trovato è nella rilegatura la vedo leggermente debole

Good enough
No concern except that it could be a little expensive
