Ridiculously small print
I was excited to receive this book based on the reviews here, but am returning it because of the ridiculously small type. My eyes aren't that bad, and I do have prescription reading glasses, but I tried reading this book in good light and it was not acceptable. It's a heavy enough book that I wouldn't want to carry it with me while out exploring, so either this should be a larger book for trip preparation purposes or for nighttime reading while traveling, or it should be broken down into several smaller books focusing on different regions within Turkey. Regardless, fix the font size!

Visual Exploration of (mostly western) Turkey
I've used this along with TurkeyTravelPlanner.com, and Lonely Planet to plan my itinerary. The guide emphasizes western Turkey, so I've needed to draw on those other sources heavily.I love all the photos and the sturdy construction of the book. The writing style is also clear and concise.I'll try to remember to follow-up post trip to report if the details are still accurate.

Heavy, but worth taking
Just spent three weeks in western Turkey. This guide helped me better understand and appreciate the ruins and mosques I was seeing and also guided me to places I may not have gone. Great drawings showing layout of most of the popular sites to visit. Used some of the hotel and restaurant suggestions, and they were as described. Istanbul map on back pages was a great help when using public transportation. Also used the maps at the beginning of each section regularly to plan my day and then to figure out where I was when I inevitably got lost!

Beautiful guidebook but heavy!
This is a beautiful guide book, with amazing photos and maps. Unfortunately the information on Cappadocia and Ephesus was very light. Also, it is surprisingly heavy. It's a great book for Istanbul and an overview of the rest of the country, but not something that is practical for carrying around all day.

EXCELLENT Travel Companion
I love the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide as I travel a great deal and I always buy these travel guide book prior to me traveling to that destination. Like last year I went to Morocco and several months prior to going I bought the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to Morocco. I use it to read about that destination. They are VERY informative!

Good Overview with Pics
Lots of info. Lots of Pics. But not good for trip planning or Transit details.

Very pleased with this guidebook.
We usually follow Rick Steves travel books but found this one to be exceptional with all of the detailed information. Lots of photos and maps included. Food descriptions, detailed illustrations of sights and even instructions on what to look for in a rug purchase.

Beautiful, but missing full-country detachable map
Beautiful, a good, quick study, and will be nice to have after the trip as well. As expected from DK. One huge disappointment: I thought there'd be a detachable map of the country, but no. The DK Istanbul book as a waterproof detachable, foldout map of the city; I assumed the Turkey book would have a similar map of the the entire country. There is only a color-coded map of the country in the front endpage. Great to have the detail maps, but I think there should be a country map as well. It could be half the country on each side. Why isn't there?

Turkey undone
This is another excellent guide by these DK people. Its well written up to date and full of useful interesting information about Turkey. it is particularly useful in navigating around the tourist and not so touristy areas. Some of the information is a little small in print but it is just about a pocket guide. The chapters which examine Turkeys past are very useful in setting the scene for your journey. Well worth the money.

Excellent introduction to 'all things Turkey'
This looks just the job for my forthcoming two week visit to Turkey. Plenty of detail but not so much that one will get 'bogged down'. Impressive and attractive presentation, too. I often prefer 'Rough Guides' or similar but this looks one of the best DK productions.

Turkish delight
We have had these guides before and as always it was just what we need, lots of information in a handy size book that will fit in a small bag .

Full of historical and cultural information - however I prefer ...
Full of historical and cultural information - however I prefer the Lonely Planet guide as it includes this information as well as specific activities and recommendations for food and hotel.
