This 2 GB 512n drive works in my Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d, Drobo (gen1) - these old RAID systems need true 512n drives
This 2 GB 512n drive works in my Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d. I was able to replace a 1 GB drive, have the device use this 2 GB drive, not just see the drive but refuse to add it.Same with a Drobo (gen1). Even though the latest Drobo firmware is supposed to work with 512e drives, I couldn't find a 512e disk that would work.512n - true 512 byte sector size, as opposed to 512e - 4k sector size emulating 512 byte.I had tried an HGST 4 GB 512n, WD 2 GB jumpered to 512n, disks and they did not work in my Iomege, Drobro. These RAID systesm saw the drives, recognized the drive model number and capacity, but would not incorporate them.

Metal On Metal Shriek. Hope Next One Works.
Hooked up drive and it made a very loud buzzing noise when motor spinning.Ran Seatools diagnostic Advanced Long Test on drive.At first drive was quiet, but then, halfway through the test the drive began to emit loud metal on metal shriek and the test crashed.Returning for exchange.Hope next drive works right.
