Picture quality isn’t clear.
I used this for a photo and video presentation at a Birthday party. I had the projector screen already. The images were slightly blurred, but that could have been due to distance from the screen. The image color was subpar. Everything kind of green/blue/gray.

Basic but effective mini-projector
This Hopfrog mini-projector comes boxed with instructions, remote control and power cable. The remote takes two AAA batteries but there are controls on top of the projector as well. The various ports are at the back - power, HDMI, USB, micro-SD and 3.5mm. The projector has no bluetooth so if you want to connect an external speaker, this has to be done using the 3.5mm aux port. While the projector does have adequate built-in speakers, they do have to compete with the noise of the fan, so hooking up an external speaker is best if you have one.The projector is simple to use, with a clearly laid out colourful menu screen and uncluttered sub-menus. Settings are straightforward, so picture and audio can be tweaked as desired. The focus lever is very simple to use. The native resolution is absolutely fine for watching DVDs, with surprisingly good picture quality. I wasn't expecting it to compete with 1080p or 4K projectors so I'm very happy with the performance. Naturally the image gets washed out in a bright room but in the dark the brightness is absolutely fine. Positioning the projector is important of course but it does well even when fairly close to what it's projecting onto.Build quality seems good, the silver and gold colouring has a classy look to it. There's a mounting hole on the bottom of the projector where a standard tripod can be attached, I screwed mine in with no problems. If you don't have a tripod and just want to put the projector on a flat surface, it has anti-slip feet so doesn't slide around. There's no option for any kind of battery power so you have to use the power cable. The cable isn't very long though, so I used a power strip to give me a bit more distance from the wall socket.Overall I am pleased with this projector. It's small and portable and works well, with a good set of inputs. For more high-resolution video I still prefer my main projector but this one is great for cartoons, DVDs, TV shows and general casual viewing. I'm very happy to have it.

Easy to use and surprisingly good picture.
I say 'surprisingly good picture', because the native resolution is 480p, and it's seen by my PC as a 1080p display. Nevertheless, the picture quality is pretty good and it's perfectly useable for presentations, or even watching TV.The suggested use is for kids, and I agree that it would be perfect to set up in a bedroom or playroom so kids can watch cartoons and hyperactive children's TV programmes. The listing does mention that, "because the price is very cheap, the clarity is not as clear as 4K HD projectors". I admire their honesty, and started this review with very low expectations. I was to be pleasantly surprised. The projector comes in a card box with an expanded foam insert, which could really be swapped for card with no loss of protection to the projector. As well as the projector itself, you get a wall-wart power supply and a remote control.Set-up was simple. Unpack, put on desk, point lens at screen (or fitted wardrobe door), plug HDMI Cable in (with a PC on the other end), turn on. That's it.The projector has a menu screen which is easily navigated using the remote control. Click to the HDMI box, and it displays the PC output. It honestly couldn't be easier to use. There is a settings page where you can make some basic adjustments to the colour and sound. It's worth experimenting, as I got a much better picture by setting it up myself ('User'), rather than using the presets. On that note, ignore the blue cast to some of my photos - I'd been fiddling with the colour and not reset it. Also note that the vertical lines are the planks of the doors, not anything to do with the projector. If I can get hold of a proper screen, I'll upload some more pictures. There is no 'keystone' feature (that I could find), so you need to make sure the projector is square-on to the screen. The size of the image is totally dependent on how far the projector is from the screen / wall / wardrobe door. The maximum distance is about 3m. At that distance, the picture was as wide as the double sliding door of my wardrobe - a good 2m wide. If you move the projector any further away, you run out of focus and the image is blurred. As you get nearer to the screen, the image rapidly gets smaller, but also brighter and clearer.I was surprised by how bright the image was. My work room has blinds, but it's really not very dark during the day. The image was still bright and clear - even on a slightly shiny, paneled wardrobe door. On a proper projector screen it would be even better. At the maximum size, the pixels are clearly visible. You're not really going to get an Imax experience, but it's actually perfectly fine for watching TV. Believe it or not, DVDs are only 480p resolution, so you're not really losing anything by watching them on this screen.I tested the projector plugged into a PC, and was surprised to find that the sound came down the HDMI cable and out of the projector! It's only mono, and a little boxy-sounding, but it works really well. The volume can be changed with the remote control. While the PC was plugged in, I tested it with a streaming TV service, and it all worked perfectly. You don't need a PC though. There's a micro SD slot on the back, and I loaded a few different files onto it to see what worked. It played .mp4 and .mpg files without issue, it didn't like the .avi file I tried, and it played .mkv but without sound. Since video files are created with many different attributes, your experience may be different. Then I went for the ultimate test - I plugged in a 1TB hard drive that's got hundreds of old motor racing videos on it, in MP4 format. The projector recognised the drive immediately, and after a quick look through the menu, I was watching monster trucks, projected onto a 100" screen (well, the wardrobe door), with sound. Awesome! The listing mentions the projector has WiFi. Well, it does, but only sort-of. What they mean is it can receive a picture that's wirelessly cast from a mobile phone using an app. I did not try the wireless phone-to-screen-casting feature as I didn't want to install the app on my phone. There are a few areas for improvement - for example, the cooling fan is a bit noisy - but overall it's a decent little projector. It's very light so you could take it on holiday to watch movies or look at your day's photos. It's also useful for things like trade shows - you can run your advertising media or a presentation on it, projected onto pretty much any surface. I can't wait to try it with my old Playstation 2 - Spyro on a 100" screen will be fantastic! The feature set is great - being able to use it on its own using a hard-drive, USB stick or SD card is really useful. I do think it's maybe a bit expensive for a 480p projector though, which is why I've dropped it a star. Native 720p and even 1080p projectors are available for the same price or a little more. While this projector is fun for watching my collection of videos in my man-cave, a 1080p projector would be more suitable for gaming, and thus more versatile. That said, I do recommend this projector, mainly because it's really easy to use, and more importantly, it works! I've got the Super Trofeo race from Valencia 2016 in the background as I type this, and it looks really good!

Perfect for daughter bedroom
This is a simple compact projector that can be used as a TV or computer screen. My daughter wants it to play with her switch in her bedroom as well as watching youtube. It comes with a power lead and a remote control device, there is a hole in the bottom so you could put it on a tripod. On the back you have a TF card slot (Not SD as it says on listing), a HDMI slot, a USB slot, two audio inputs, a socket for the power lead and the infra red remote control sensor. On the top there is a selection of buttons to control or navigate the menus so you can still use this if you lose the remote control or have dead batteries in it.The listing makes it clear this is not a 4K or high end projector but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how good the picture actually is.You can only use this in situations where the projector and the surface you are projecting on are between 1 and 3 meters apart, more than this and you cannot focus the picture. At 2.5mtrs it is close to being an 80" screen and in a darkened room is perfectly good enough to watch a film or cartoon, or play a video game.To focus the picture you have to position a lever on the side of the box, it is so easy even a child could do it.My daughters room is fully fitted and there simply isn't space for a TV, so we are getting a pull down screen to put in front of her wardrobes so she can have a cinema experience in her own room.We have used this with a small google TV box to stream Netflix and amazon prime as well as youtube. The only fault I can find is that the fan that cools the bulb is quite noisy, and while there is a built in speaker it is as good as you could hope for in a device at this price point. If you can I would suggest using another device to present the sound, and dont cover it when it is on because it does get quite warm! For the money though it is pretty good, a good deal better than the price would imply!Happy to help

480p only but does the job on a budget
This projector comes in at a price point that seems very cheap when you think of projectors but you have to understand this won’t be giving you the quality of picture that you’ll get in Cinemas or that of TVs. This is a projector which you’ll get best use out of in small home use for a kids movie night or as a picture slideshow. In daylight, this will be kind of useless if I’m being honest but with curtains drawn at night it shines a lot better. The projector is actually very small and shocking because it’s just about bigger than a phone (obviously thicker). You have a keystone correction for up to 15° and adjustable focus allowing up to a 120inch screen. It has HDMI input, a USB (1.0 only) and MicroSD card slot. You’re easiest option will be just sticking a firestick or Chromecast device to get the content you want to watch like you would a smart tv but you can put another HDMI source in like a laptop. If you have the video/pictures saved to a card then this will work fine too. Whilst this projector will support 1080P content, it’s only going to output more like 480P. You’re also going to want to use your Aux to connect up a wireless speaker because you won’t be able to get much out of this if I’m being honest. But if you already have a wireless speaker or speaker that can connect via Aux, have a way to get content onto this like a Chromecast and only want it as a way for kids to watch on a bigger screen on a movie night without worrying about the quality of the picture, this would work. I do think for the price it’s cheap but for a little more you can get a lot better picture quality.

A good budget projector with an SD resolution which is surprisingly sharp...
This mini projector comes in a cardboard box and inside you’ll find the projector, remote control, user manual, and a power supply. First thing’s first, this isn’t going to compete with a 4k projector that cost a lot more so if that is what you’re after, you won’t find it here. What you do get is a projector which gives a decent picture up to 120”. It does play 1080p content, but the actual resolution is half of that so you’re not going to get a HD picture here either, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that you do get a decent picture, even if it is standard definition. The picture is reasonably sharp, and the focus can be adjusted to get it as sharp as you can. You do get a bit of keystone correction for up to 15 degrees. It has HDMI, Micro-SD, USB-A connections, and has an audio in and out socket. In use, the picture is surprisingly good and my daughter loves playing her console on it at night time. In daylight hours, the projected image isn’t very bright, so you have to draw the curtains or use it when it’s dark. I had issues connecting her phone to it though so just used a Firestick instead and she has Amazon video and YouTube on there so she’s happy. In conclusion, a really good projector at this price point. The build quality feels a little cheap, but it does the job and my daughter loves it…
