detailed review of the rounded 36 inch 1/4 TEMPERED version
Know what you’re getting size wise and you won’t be disappointed. I saw negative reviews saying it is “smaller” than expected. Look, the round 36 inch is clearly intended for your chair ONLY. I just got it today and here’s what I know so far:It looks great. Packaging was secure (from the inside out: glass mat came taped over with styrofoam, then was placed in a wooden frame/pallet, pallet was taped in a box, and boxed pallet was then wrapped in another box). The glass is intact and looks clean/scratch free. Used the sticky pads so the glass doesn’t slide around. Don’t worry, the sticky pads are the kind that can be bought at your local Walmart/target for 5 bucks if you are worried about moving the mat around. The sticky pads are clear so they don’t distract from the aesthetic of the glass mat, which if you’re like me, is part of the reason you buy this kind of thing. You want the office space to look CLEAN.In reference to the SIZE: it’s perfect for my use of the chair, and I’m willing to guess it will work for 90% of purchasers. Every office chair is about the same size in terms of the wheels, right? I have tried two different chairs and have found that there is ample room to roll around on it. Put it this way, you WON’T slide off the mat while sitting at your desk. It feels like I can slide a “foot” (subjectively) in either direction when my chair is on the mat. Know that the round 36 is for chair only and you’ll be great. The only time it comes off the mat is if you like to pull the chair pretty far out from the desk in order to get in it. The mat could probably use another two to three inches, but I assure you, it is not too SMALL. The 2-3 inches I’m referencing are only for the times when I’m getting in the chair and pull it too far out. Only then does it come off the mat. But NEVER when I’m sitting in it. Finally, I like the size because it doesn’t stand out and it doesn’t have that awkward application where your feet are halfway on it. You don’t want it to be too big and ruin the “clean” aesthetic. Know that the round 36 is for the chair only. As long as you can refrain from using your chair like a slide at the water park, you’ll be fine.Durability: I’ve only had it for an hour but I’ve sat in the chair, “plopped” in the chair, and had my dog walk on the mat while I’m in the chair. No concern there. Dog claws didn't cause scratches, either. I lightly stomped on the mat as well. No concerning noises or glass flex or anything like that. I think the only way to break this thing is if you are intending on breaking it. You can’t accidentally break it in my opinion. Keep in mind, though, I’ve only had this for an hour. I’ve worked in construction so I'm decent at being able to determine a “flimsy” and poorly made material from a sturdy, well made one. I think the only way to accidentally break this is to drop a dumbbell on it. Full disclosure, I bought the more expensive 36 1/4 inch version, even though both 36" rounded mats are the same size. The difference between the two rounded mats that seem to be the same size is that the more expensive one is TEMPERED glass. So my review, and more specifically the durability part, is in reference to the tempered version. I can’t speak on the cheaper 36 1/4 inch non tempered version. This glass is perfect for me and I got it at a better price than other available glass chair mats. Don’t be afraid to look at used/like new versions, people! You might find a better deal for these kind of things than you think. Here is a photo of my setup. This is one of my first reviews that I’ve done. No I didn’t get paid or promoted to write this. No I didn’t get it for free. I bought it like any other normal Amazon prime user and I’m only writing/reviewing this in depth because I had concerns about glass mats before buying. Now that I’ve gotten it, I’m writing this to calm the thoughts of potential buyers who had similar hesitations/concerns as me. Please like this if you find it helpful.

wrong size advertised
One area of the product description advertised it as 42"x42" and another described it as 36"x36". The one that was shipped to me was 36"x36" and I wouldn't have bought it based on that. I'm stuck with it because it's too much of a hassle to send a big piece of grass back

Misleading size info, too small for most chairs
Advertised as "42 x 42 inches" but actually sized 36 x 36 inches. Large enough to fit the wheeled base of most office chairs, but so small that there's almost no space for the chair to actually move without one of the wheels jarringly falling off the edge.Complained to Amazon about the false size advertising. Ended up accepting a partial refund on this to keep it as mailing it back wasn't really a possibility. Ended up having to buy new wheels for the chair that had a bit more rolling resistance to help my partner avoid the jarring roll-offs. In the end though the issue was frustrating enough that my partner decided to stop using the mat and simply use the new wider wheels on the padded carpet again - it still sinks in and it's still a pain, but ultimately that was less frustrating that dealing the a mat that's just too small to do the job it was intended for.

Amazing Quality, Slightly Smaller than Expected
This is the nicest chair mat I have ever seen. Its a really thick glass; extremely hard to damage or break it! I have a 6 foot wide desk and thought this measurement would be enough; however it is still only about 3/4 of the coverage I need. Would recommend for a more stagnant desk; I have multiple screens/etc., constantly moving around. However; it came packaged expertly, and was easy to remove and place on my own as someone with little to no arm strength!

Nice solid glass mat at a good price
I ordered the 36 inch round glass mat that fits my desk. It came in one day, very unusual here in northern Vermont. The packaging was very secure to protect the heavy glass. It works just as advertised and the chair rolls very well on low-pile carpet. One funny thing---the cardboard package clearly said, in large letters on the outside....Glass Chair Mat (SQUARE). Since a square one would not work for me I was all set to be disappointed and have to do a return, yet when I opened the package it was the round one I had ordered. I guess you cant trust a package by its cover. This is a very good buy, especially as the glass is 1/4 inch thick, not the1/5 inch as is usual at this price point.
