I used this in the exhaust vent for my Jenn-Air range. The flap-style damper I had let a significant draft back into the house and in the winter also allowed condensation to form on the outside of the vent pipe in my basement. I installed the spring damper as close to the end of my vent pipe as possible (leaving the old exterior flap damper in place) and also added some pipe insulation on the exterior of the pipe near the wall penetration. No more draft or condensation! Make sure that you thoroughly clean the inside of the vent pipe where you plan to install this damper (I used the brush/rod/power drill system I have for cleaning my dryer vent). It slides into place and is held in by friction. The seal was good for me, but might not be so great if you try to slide it into a dirty pipe. This product is well built and easy to install.

Hopefully the springs hold up but for now it works perfectly, blocking cold air from back drafting into my range top ventilator. I keep running my hand over the stove top to feel for that draft that isn't there any more. I check under the cabinet which at some points during the winter could work as a backup freezer, and no cold. Was easy to install. Just used a flathead screwdriver to gently pry up the bent end of the duct on the outside of the house, slipped in this device and tamped it in with a rubber mallet.

Long story, but the house we bought had the capability to have a vented stove hood but the previous owners had installed a none vented one. So to save use some moola, we purchased this to make it vented. It works great! The flaps open on the low and high speeds.So if you're looking at this item for a similar reason, highly recommend it!

This fits perfectly inside the 5" flex line on my HF dust collector. Allowing me to exhaust directly outside my shop and preventing bugs,birds, and weather from flowing back into the system. I was afraid that because I was using the HF dust collector I was going to have to cobble something together but this worked and saved me many hours of "farm" engineering.

This item suited the application ideally and met all my expectations. I'm using it to admit combustion air through the floor to the gas wall furnace I installed, and the light spring on the damper allows adequate air flow in this updraft orientation. If the application were for downdraft, I would add ducting to invert it, so gravity wouldn't keep the damper open.

My second one of these in different applications in the past couple of years. They seem to be very precision built, and come packaged to avoid damaging the fine mechanism. I am using them in Canada, where drafty vents can be a serious problem. Mine are working great.

The spring damper works as advertised, but way overpriced for what it is, especially when you add in the inflated shipping charges.
