Decent pomade with a nice vanilla scent
It seems a lot of the reviewers have never used pomade. This is solid, thick and needs working between your hands to warm it up enough to run through your hair. This is normal for a pomade. The hold is good, gives a wet look, and it is reworkable. Pomades are heavy, so better for thicker hair. There is a slight vanilla scent. Not sure what the review saying no scent is in the ingredients is talking about. It's clearly on there as "parfum". The scent is certainly there and it is nice. See my picture of the ingredients. The container is a glass jar with plastic lid. Ideally, I would prefer a pomade to be in a shallow, wide container and prefer metal for recycling and toughness. This is a little less portable, and it's harder to scoop pomade out of a taller, narrower container. You can get pomades in better containers and with nicer scents for cheaper than this. But if you like vanilla and glass jars, this is good.

Great hold and easy to apply
The media could not be loaded. This hair product is a grease which is thick and gives a lovely shine and hold to my curly hair. I would recommend it as it looks great with just a small amount combed in. Very easy to apply!

Had to throw it away.
Unfortunately I have to leave a negative review for this product; it was really hard to use and didn't look or feel good. It was insanely sticky and took about 4 washes with shampoo to remove it from my hair. For the price it was really bad. However the shop owner did kindly agree to replace it so I'm leaving 2 stands for this reason. So to be clear. Shop=good, product=bad.

Apothecary 87 Grease Pomade
Not sure how many of the other reviewers have used this product as opposed to just rewriting the product description, so here's what you need to know. The product looks good when it arrives, premium branding, nice look to it. I'm not sure the same can be said about the actual product. The wax arrived rock solid - it was like trying to get a candle to melt by rubbing your fingers on it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt because it was a cold day and left it overnight to warm up. Even then, it was barely pliable. I had to run this under a hot tap, and then leave it in warm water before it would melt to a degree that I could use it.Once I got to this point, you notice the smell. You can smell the bees wax here, and there is no scent of perfum. In fact, checking the ingredients list, it doesn't mention any fragrance at all... not sure how people are detecting marshmellow or vanilla.A small amount melted between my palms was all I need to notice any effect of the pomade. It is easy to apply, and gives a wet look. It does a good job of keeping your hair in place, but without it feeling fixed or sticky. If you want to rework the style, you can just run your hands through your hair a re-fix.Getting the product of your hands requires some warm water and a lot of soap, but easy to get off then.Overall, this just feels like a generic pomade formulation made for cheap, with an attempt at premium branding to justify the price. The product is okay, but no better than anything you can buy from a high street store. Don't waste £16 on this product, it's just not worth it

Feels premium, but I just don't like it I'm afraid - Very greasy.
Sadly, I just didn't get on with this pomade from Apothecary87 at all. I feel that, when considering the price, hold and concerns I have, I couldn't personally award more than two stars.Positives are that the branding is good, I've tried a lot of pretty high end styling products, and this is up there with the quality you'd expect when spending RRP of £16 for a jar. Speaking of jars, this one is glass, not a plastic container. I like this as glass feels nicer, recycles better and just generally appears more premium.Scent is quite nice, though very sweet. Sort of chocolatey honey vanilla smell.Another big plus, and a must-have badge of honour for products that come into our house. This item is cruelty free, as are all Apothecary87 products it seems. This is a big tick from me, and the only reason I'd be tempted to increase overall score to three stars. However, I fundamentally do/did not enjoy using the product. There's nothing in particular wrong with the hold, it's just as good as other premium styling products I've tried. Quite a strong hold, and a pretty nice healthy looking sheen - not sure I'd call it high shine, though perhaps that's just my hair type (thick, short and brown). The problem is the product itself is just SO greasy. Perhaps you could argue this is typical of pomade, but to me it just makes everything unpleasant. It's like putting Vaseline in your hair with the addition of heavy wax. So you have to work pretty hard rubbing it into DRY hands to make sure you can apply/style as you'd like, then you're left with stuff that feels quite unpleasant in the hair, AND on your hands. I've tried to include a picture of my hands AFTER washing with soap - water beads off it like a duck! Trying to wash it out of your hair is similarly frustrating. I had to wash it 3 or 4 times before my hair felt normal again.I ended up using washing up liquid to clean my hands properly, and even that wasn't instant.I hope this isn't too dramatic. I did open this product wanting to like it. But sadly I just think the pomade itself isn't pleasant to use. Not for me anyway. At the price point, there are much better feeling products out there. Feels much more like a moustache wax you'd use in tiny quantities with your fingers.

Amazing for styling - not sure about the scent
This is a very durable and workable pomade, it was easy to work on my husband's hair and held his style all day. It doesn't make the hair artificially stiff and it keeps natural movement in the hair without compromising the styling. The product is cruelty free which is a big plus for us. There is only (relatively small) downside - the scent. It is vanilla but also has a bit of a strange twang to it. It doesn't linger for long and is not overly strong, but I think the product would be better without it or with a different fragrance altogether.

Great for that slick back look
Very greasy pomade, performs very well with a great look if you’re going for a slick back look. Very strong hold that lasts a long time.
