Nice wood
The wood is good quality.

NOT BASSWOOD
Bought to put on a lathe. I've dealt with basswood before. It cuts like butter on a lathe.This isn't basswood. It's very hard and pretty scary to use on a lathe for a beginner like me. It's extremely easy for the carving tools to catch and cut a massive notch into your piece or splinter some out. And then you have to reprofile the whole thing and hope it doesn't happen again.

Large blocks look like picture but are much heavier and harder than other basswood I have worked with, not sure if different type of wood

Honesty is the best policy!!!
MUKCHAP 6 pack Basswood ----I'm a wood carver and I can tell you that this is NOT basswood. Color and HARDNESS is typical of poplar and I am not buying carving wood here any more. Terrible! Only useful as a fire starter!
