It doesn't happen often for me, but this Papa Recipe Retinol Bakuchiol Serum has filled a big gap in my skincare routine. A gap that I didn't even realize existed.At first, I was hesitant about ordering this serum. It sounded amazing, but I wasn't sure if my dry, sensitive skin would appreciate the retinol. But after reading the ingredients list, I realized that retinol was in the bottom third of the list. And this is good, because the concentration of retinol shouldn't be too overwhelming or too harsh. But at the same time, it should still be quite effective. So I thought I'd give it a go. And I'm so, so glad I did.First, this serum is 150ml / 5.07 Fl Oz for only $39.99. That is so affordable. Most serums of this type come in 1 oz bottles for a higher price. I'm really impressed with the value for money that Papa Recipe is providing; While still delivering an amazing quality serum that could compete with any brand name.The serum is a lovely, viscous, smooth, creamy texture with a light minty scent. It applies to the skin like a dream, and it sinks into the skin very quickly. It layers well with other products, and it doesn't pill. A little goes a long way, so this 150 ml bottle should last for months.This serum has so many great ingredients, and it exceeds expectations. This retinol, bakuchiol, hyalauronic acid trio is a gentle, but effective, powerhouse of hydration and anti-aging effects. The things it did for my skin in only two uses in the first week was incredible. On day one, I had a few small acne spots. On the first application, all but one of the spots completely disappeared overnight. I was pleasantly surprised, because that never happens for me. The morning after using the serum, my skin felt so smooth and soft, and my skin looked so much brighter, clearer, and more healthy and radiant. Not because of a superficial glowy moisturizer, or anything like that. This serum truly began to change my skin's texture, clarity, health, and appearance. I did test it exclusively on one side of my face for the first few uses, so the difference was very noticeable. It's a wonderful serum, especially because it is gentle enough for people like me. I'm truly impressed, and I cannot wait to see the long-term results.A WORD OF CAUTION: Retinol is an exfoliant, and it is known to cause irritation and dry, flaky skin when introduced too quickly, or used too frequently. Even for people with very resilient skin. For those who are new to retinol, it requires a gradual approach, in order to build up your skin's tolerance. I have dry, sensitive skin, so I started using this serum only at night, and only once or twice a week. As my skin acclimates to the retinol, I will very slowly use it more and more often. Hopefully, I can work up to the point where I can use it once every day.Using retinol at night is a very good idea, because it is very photosensitive. It can cause the skin to be very sensitized to the sunlight (UV rays), and that can be a very unwelcome experience. It is important to wear sunscreen when using retinol in your skincare routine. Though, using retinol at night is usually recommended. Because I have sensitive skin, I err on the side of extra caution. I will not be using any retinol products during the day.Overall, I am so very happy to have found this serum, and I will definitely be repurchasing. I cannot wait to try the Papa Recipe Collagen Serum as well. I would recommend this product to anyone who thinks it might meet their skincare needs. I've been using retinol and other serums a few years now and have found that they're not all the same, not liking the affect or feel some had on my skin. Also found myself dissatisfied with how fast I needed to reorder, even with the 1oz size that added up. I really like the feel of this serum, applied smooth and evenly without feeling a need to apply a little more to relieve areas that others left feeling dry. And this generous size, over 5 fl oz, will definitely relieve having to reorder as often, the ritual of discovering you [and someone else] used more than the month before and now need it before your monthly subscription date that will forfeit plan discount to receive sooner. Or the ritual that comes with the decision to wait until set delivery so not to lose the discount, of diluting with just the right amount of water and using sparingly. Removing those annoyances alone must have some effect on wrinkle reduction naturally. Very good product on my problematic 56 y/o skin. Happy Customer : )
