The hinge is cheap thin steel 18ga steel strap and welded with thin tubing for hinge pin. ..total junk.The welded will never hold up, as it was welded by an amateuron thin strap, not the 1/4" thick material as shown with flush rivets. Also, the visor retention strap is only attached to the right side along with the buckle, NOT wrapping around the helmet from left to right as it is supposed to be in the seller pic and other buyer pics.... also there is zero padding sewn into the helmet as pictured, note tge sticking in the seller pic...not on mine. All the leather is glued on, not sewn as show in seller pic.Go look at what is shown as the seller product compared to the junk I received in the pics I provided... it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. I paid good money for quality, quality as described, not a piece of cheay made crap thats no where functional for HEMA/SCA. I demand satisfaction,...want my money back,or another visor w the correct hinge and rivets sent, or a full replacement helmet built of the quality I was expecting as what I purchased as shown, just as other buyers have received from previous sells, Quality. Not junk that looks to have been welding by an first time welding student. I'm so appalled and outraged of the unprofessional craftsmanship displayed. Totally, the seller is misrepresenting his product, purposely being deceitful, because the seller knows whst he his building and sending out to customers. It amount to fraud.

Absolutely amazing product and amazing customer service! It did run a bit late, but the seller was on top of it and let me know right away. It's well made and surprisingly comfortable. The only downside is that your vision is limited, but that's to be expected with this type of helmet.

I pulled the liner out, and used my Rugby Helm as padding. I did have to adjust the chainmaile attached to the aventail, then after all that, I installed a chin strap. Then used a steel wire to lock in the the aventail to the helm. I was hoping this would come with a chin strap. but overall, I'm pretty happy with this helm. I will be putting in more breathing holes on the face though. I would suggest the factory loses the liner, puts in a chin strap, and makes slightly bigger holes in the face for this almost ready to go helm that does meet SCA fighting standards. It is indeed 14 gage, and very well made. The leather straps are good quality, and the helm is good for tourneys, I'm going to see about a different face plate for war fighting... for both breathing, as well as vision.
