Yes, it does stick to the cap. No glue needed.

Is it possible to cut the string, pull it out from the anchor/adhesive part, and thread a different string through?

A cursory examination of the cap attachment does not confirm that using a different string would be easy. Using super glue, I can imagine looping a different string around the keeper's body and gluing it there would work.

I have a Pentax K-70 with 18-135 mm lens + lens hood. Are these long enough to go from lens, around hood to the cap without having to remove hood?

there is a bit more than 5" of cord from the attachment to the lens cap to the lens. I am not familiar with the lens hood you mention, but this is long enough for my nikon telephoto lens with a lens hood.

Hi will this cap fit a canon eos m50?

The Keeper Holder with Elastic string works just fine on the Canon m50 lens cap. It comes with an adhesive backing that is very stable. Just choose a flat spot on the cap to stick the little disk on. I mainly used them on my Sony camera and happily stopped losing caps. If you want a lens cap for your m50, you will have to purchase one especially sized for those lenses. They are a larger diameter than the replacement caps for my Sony camera lenses.
