5.29.21 update:I added a photo of the cake. I should’ve mentioned that if you need to get rich, fully saturated hues, you’ll probably need to buy bigger ounce bottles. I knew I only needed a drop or two.First and foremost, if you’re someone like me who simply “cakes” once in a while for fun, fam and friends buy it! Stop reading just buy it. Seriously.If you’re a professional, you’re probably not reading this unless you’re in a serious pinch, and I still recommend it!I was hesitant to purchase it at first because I assumed some of the review photos didn’t really capture this ‘neon’ claim. Well, we all know what happens when you assume and besides that... I was pleasantly surprised! My photos probably don’t do it justice either but let me explain... the photo didn’t really credit what my eyes saw.-You’ll see some photos with and without flash simply to show the effect lighting can have. There’s a subtle difference, but it could be important to anyone hunting as much as I did when I came across this brand.-Keep in mind this is on a (crappy) white background which typically will drown out or washout the neon brightness. So you’ll have to imagine it 2x as bright being on a dark background if that’s a look you’re going for.-I tried to showcase two hues. The lighter hue is only from the gel that was on the seal when I opened them. I literally wiped the top piece in the icing before tossing the seal...mixed it...and BAM! Bright but light and dare I say perfect for the neon effect. But here is where it gets touchy- it only takes a tiny bit to go from neon to over saturated hues.I’ve never used another gel color that gave me effortless vibrancy.There is a finesse to it, it’s baking after-all! Always start light and work your way darker.

The protective wrappers ensured that the product was perfect, but they were extremely hard to remove. I would definitely buy these again. It was easy to control the color from pastel to vibrant by adding more drops. This was just a simple cheesecake recipe, but the effect was so dramatic! I just dripped food coloring-enhanced cheesecake messily on top of the already-spread basic cheesecake and swirled with a knife. The photos don’t do Justice to the gorgeous colors. This product makes a boring dessert look thrilling.

I read some of the reviews of receiving dried out gel and was a little worried, but thankfully, I haven't had any issues. I had some pastel colors that were just not doing the job, but these vibrant ones really pack a punch. Just what I needed to make my baked goods stand out.
