A Light and Entertaining Romance
Must be immune to swearing as there is a lot in this book. However I enjoyed the story very much. It was light and entertaining, and sometimes you need a good read that's not too heavy. Great vacay read. It was laugh out loud funny and Claire's 4 year old son did not fail to disappoint when it came to embarassing his mom. So a typical 4 year old. A cast of friends with their own quirks and this was an enjoyable read.

Queria meus 12 reais de volta... T.T
Começou bem e eu tinha certeza que ia adorar o "Seduction and Snacks", confesso. What kind of sick fucks made this into a movie?".

If reading in public..wear earbuds...so you don't look crazy laughing out loud! NO SPOILERS
I often think that I was put on this earth as God's entertainment. Stop! This is not a religious post. I do not think I am better/ more important than the next person. I am not as narcissistic as that first statement may sound (I hope!). I just know that crazy, funny, ridiculous, silly, and outrageous shit....eer I mean stuff happens to me all the time and there is no way that it can be coincidence. People think it's ok to say rude things to me or bump into me and keep on walking as if I didn't exist. I have actually had a doctor tell me that "I am smarter than look"...I am NOT kidding!! So I have decided, that one of my life's purposes is to be the entertainment for the "Big One" up there..and I am not talking about the Great and Powerful Oz!I have learned during the course of my life that having a sense of humor helps me to get through difficult times. I also figured out early on..that laughing when you're sad is like balm to your soul. Selfishly, being the cause of someone's laughter brings me the most indescribable kind of happiness. In the movie Steel Magnolias, it was said that laughter through tears is the best emotion. I couldn't agree more. My friends know that when they're sad... they can come to me for a guaranteed smile and an almost guaranteed laugh. Of course through my years, I have learned that there is a fine line between being funny and being obnoxious, rude, and crude. If you ask my brother, I have fallen over that line too many times to count...heehee. I say, you gotta test those boundaries every so often..things change... right? When I was younger there was NO way that the words "douche" or "bitch" would be allowed on television and now we have cartoons saying them..Family Guy!! So...every so often I offend somebody....ooops! I really am sorry about that..at least I now know that anal sex is not a good topic of conversation for a Shiva**. (I won't make that mistake again...probably.) I digress.A couple of days ago, I received an email from a loyal Lisa's Reads follower (Lori..hey girl). She gave me a book recommendation and told me that if I hadn't yet read "Seduction and Snacks" by Tara Sivec I should seriously consider it. "It is freakin' hilarious!" she told me. Honestly, there were so many things about her email that grabbed my attention I could have alphabetized them for you (but that would take a lot of time...so I'll just tell you in random order). First, the title "Seduction and Snacks" yummy (on both accounts)!!! Second, Lori said it was "freakin' hilarious". I do NOT know Lori personally...I have NEVER met her or spoken with her aside from a few emails that she has been kind enough to send to Lisa's Reads but she likes my book choices. If she likes my selections enough to write to me...than chances are, I will probably like hers as well (logical thought right?). Third, I had just finished a VERY long run of romance and/or heavy topic books... I needed something different. Last but not least, I was premenstrual, there is a chocolate dipped strawberry on the cover of the book...case closed book selected!!!Let me start this book review by saying to those of you who know me personally, when you read this book, you will think I wrote it. No kidding! There was a point during my reading where I thought I wrote it..Heehee!! For those of you who don't know me personally...if I could write a book...THIS WOULD BE IT!!!!!Tara Sivec has written one of the funniest books I have ever read in my entire life!!! I know, I know..that is a bold statement but it isn't bold enough. "Seduction and Snacks" is the hilarious (not to mention extremely well written) story about Claire a twenty-something, single mom of a four-year old spunky (for lack of better..or cleaner..words) little boy named Gavin. Gavin is the product of a one-night stand that just so happens to be the only sexual encounter that Claire had ever had. In the years since "that night" Claire has thought about Gavin's father countless times..If only she would have gotten his name before she ran out.... Carter, has spent the last five years trying to find the girl whose skin smelled like chocolate and whose face he just couldn't seem to remember...Why did he have to get so drunk that night?!In a fantastic twist of events that some would call fate and others would call destiny Claire and Carter happen upon each other again and the laughs continue to flow. Ms. Sivec has created an entire book full of the most lively, energetic and quirky characters I have EVER had the pleasure to meet. Claire's father has the "Don't `F' with my daughter" vibe going so strong that I had to laugh every time he entered a scene. Carter's best friend Drew, was the perfect "wing man" and he comes with the best accessories... Claire's best friend Liz is the kind of friend that every woman should have and every woman may think about killing...at least once...Heehee. In the movies, there are often times that one character becomes a "scene stealer"...that is a more difficult feat in books because there is no visual stimuli. However, Ms. Sivec's words create more of an image than any picture ever could when describing Gavin. Gavin stole every single scene that he was in...or should I say, every page that he was on?!Was this book a romance? Yes. This story was like a quilt, woven together with patches of love (the romantic kind and the friendship kind), strength, loyalty, and endurance. But this book was also a stand-up comedy show... It was filled with crude words and foul language and hilarious antidotes...basically it is the kind of story that I will read when I feel sad and the funniest person I know can't cheer me up. This is Tara Sivec's first novel, however, I am certain it won't be her last. I'm actually hoping that she will take us to visit with our friends from "Seductions and Snacks" again in the future...(Hint Hint Ms. Sivec).Warning - In case you glossed over the last paragraph (shame on you!) While this book is absolutely hysterical, it is filled with crude language, crude language used by a four-year old, sex toys (no sex toys were hurt during the writing of this book or this review.. wink), and sexual activity. If the word vagina upsets you, please do not buy this book.

Unglaublich witzig!
