Great Knife, really hardened steel!
Love the knife, and the steel keeps a great edge! The brass ring in the handle sticks out just a hair so there is an edge on the handle, some would say that is the way it is supposed to be, always knowing where your hand is on the handle. So how can you take any off for it? For me I totally love the knife, great workmanship and extremely cool looking knife. Thank you!

Chinese
It says Japanese, but then comes with a made in China sticker. Also, had to sharpen it before use. Duller than expected and not broad.

Very sharp, very comfortable.
For the price, this knife is not only super cool and fun to hold and use, but it is also sharp. It is difficult to sharpen, although I'm still not good at it... But it is a really nice knife for the price. It is quite large, so bear that in mind. It's designed in such a way where it's harder to kit your knuckles when chopping which is nice. the knife slightly curves back at the base of the blade which catches on rags when you wipe it sometimes, but it just takes some getting used to. Pretty cool!

Attractive Japanese looking knife
The product arrives nicely boxed. The knife itself is sharp and attractive in design with a faux hammered 'Damascus' look to the top of the blade which is finished in black. The manufacturer's name is NOT emblazoned upon the knife as it is shown on Amazon to be--and I am thankful for that. It costs a quarter of what a Japanese Kirtsuke knife costs and that got me to looking more closely at it.The blade seems to be as advertised--high carbon steel--which is arguably the best type of blade to get if you want a very sharp edge. But high carbon steel is not stainless steel--you need to take care of it by keeping it dry and oiling it after use. Still, it will eventually take on a pleasant grayish patina which to me is not objectionable.I do not like the handle on this knife for several reasons--one I am sure of and one I suspect. The handle has a brass ferrule about a third of the way up and it is poorly fitting. If you run your hand up the handle you can feel the edges of the metal ferrule protruding on both sides and that is annoying. The second thing is that I don't think the tang of the knife (the metal part that fits into the wooden handle) runs the full length of the handle. The only way I can check is by cutting open the handle and I am not going to do that. But for good balance, I like at least some of the weight of the metal knife be offset by metal inside of the handle and it doesn't feel that way to me. Of course, a 'full tang' also contributes to the durability of a knife.BUt if you are not a professional chef wielding this in the kitchen all day long, little of what I am quibbling about matters too much. It's an impressive looking knife, very sharp and at quite a discount to what these types of knives usually sell for.

Super Sharp chef’s knife
This is probably the sharpest knife I’ve ever gotten. It cut through a potato like it was melted butter. The blade looks really nice and the handle has a good grip that feels comfortable in my hand. The blade is pretty long, which is good to help with trying different angles for cutting. My only concern is on the black spotted decorative pattern I saw a bit of orange that looked like rust after I cleaned it. I don’t know what that means for the metal used, I was under the impression they used a stainless steel which shouldn’t rust. Even if it isn’t taking care of it should prevent any real issues in the future. So far I’m very pleased with this knife.
