Working great in my Lenovo X301 Laptop
When my OEM SSD died in my Lenovo X301 laptop, I was dissappointed to find out it would be very expensive to replace. The reason is that Lenovo used a very obscure size drive in my laptop, called a 1.8" form factor SSD. The rarity just made a 1.8" drive expensive for the performance and the capacity.A much more common and cost effective SSD form factor is called mSATA. mSATA is smaller than 1.8" SATA, and fully compatible with regards to functionality of a 1.8" SSD, as far as I know. mSATA drives seem to be generally newer, cheaper, faster, and overall better than 1.8" SATA SSD's. It seems that the 1.8" form factor is going to the way side, in favor of mSATA, but I could be wrong. In comes this Aleratec adapter. Simply choose from a larger selection of higher performing mSATA drives. Install it in this Aleratec adapter, and you have yourself a replacement for a 1.8" SATA SSD.The adapter is very high quality, not flimsy, came with screws, and was easy to install the msata drive into it. It slid in perfectly to my Lenovo X301's 1.8" slot. It was recognized and worked flawlessly with no fuss at all. Measured performance has been extremely good.I am using this with a Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal Solid State Drive CT240M500SSD3 that I purchased for $139.99...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQ8RKT4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used this to upgrade the SSD of my Sony ...
I used this to upgrade the SSD of my Sony Vaio Z (VPCZ13) laptop. I did NOT need any additional ribbon cable adapter such as the Sony COMPL PWB FPC-217(SSD_TOS) (S), A1781464A , as it turns out the included OEM ribbon cable was compatible with this converter. Do check to see if your ribbon cable is in fact a mSATA adapter first. However, do note that if you intend to use this with the VPCZ13, you will need to remove the black plastic support in order to make the adapter fit. Don't worry about this, though; it slides right off, no need to unscrew or break anything.I installed this in my laptop along with the Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB - mSATA Internal SSD (MZ-M5E500BW) and it works perfectly.

Perfect for Upgraders
A very effective adapter for installing mSATA SSD's into 1.8" systems.I used this to install a 250gb Samsung EVO 840 into a Motion Computing J3400 tablet computer.Installation was a snap. Insert the SSD, use the included screws to secure it to the adapter, then install the adapter as you would a regular drive. The adapter feels solid, as if someone actually put some thought and effort into designing and producing it, a rare trait for most adapters of this type.My tablet is now mighty mighty fast and twice the storage, which were my main goals. It probably uses a little less power, produces less heat, and is more protected from falls, although those weren't my reasons for upgrading so I'm not paying particular attention to them. It's nice to know I can upgrade these funky systems without spending a king's ransom on funky 1.8" drives.Highly Recommend!

Almost fit HP EliteBook 2730p, got it working eventually.
This is a great solution to replace the unusual 1.8" form factor hard drive in the rare machine that needs this size disk. This module plus a Crucial M500 mSATA drive 240GB was installed with only minor issues. The computer had a metal shield over the SATA connector that did not align to this module, I cut off the tab that did not align correctly, and my netbook is back online.Only negative was that the black plastic body did not match the original frame of the hard drive, so some of the spacers & shields did not fit around the drive after the installation. Would have been nice if the edges were the same dimension as the original drive, instead of just a base plate with circuit board. The price was reasonable, the Prime shipping made the deal for me.

Fit 1.8" SSD and drive bay perfect!
Used this with a Kingston 120gb SSD and it fit perfectly in the hard drive bay for the hard disk it replaced in a Motion J3500. Used a bit of tape to hold the drive in the bay (proprietary slot it seems) but I don't think it would have moved regardless as it had no real wiggle in there. Been working without issue so far in the field for a couple weeks.

Best adapter I've found for replacing those rare 1.8" drives
Worked perfectly. I bought this to replace the drive in my wife's Elitebook 2740p. It came with mechanical drive and we wanted to go SSD for better performance. 1.8" SSD's are very scarce and very expensive. mSATA seems the way to go, but some other adapters convert the connectors but do not fill the whole space of the 1.8" drive leaving no way to properly mount the mSATA SSD where the 1.8" drive had been. This adapter is the same footprint as the drive it's replacing and can use all the same mounting holes and hardware.
