Star Wars Mug, Got The Force? - 20 oz - Fragile -

Got this as a birthday present for my partner, who happens to be the biggest Star Wars fan I've ever met. I know, it's kind of pricey for a mug, but I thought it would be worth it. We both couldn't be happier. He loves it, and I look like a rock star for getting him the coolest birthday gift on the planet.The graphics - when cold - show the holsters of the lightsabers with the names of who those lightsabers belonged to. Pour a hot drink into the mug and the sabers light up in their correct colors (according to said Star Wars nerd) and looks really neat. The 20 oz mug is huge and is really well insulated - that means his coffee doesn't get cold quickly. That's a good thing, as this mug can't go into the microwave OR dishwasher.We've been exceptionally gentle with this mug, only washing with warm water and a little dishwashing liquid on a soft sponge. It cleans up easily. Remember, you can only hand wash it. It should never go into the microwave or dishwasher, and you should never use abrasives (even the scrubby part of the sponge) on the heat sensitive decal.Bottom Line: This is a great gift for a Star Wars fan, provided they follow directions and protect the mug appropriately. My only gripe is the cost, as it's a lot of money for a mug, even compared to other heat-sensitive cups out there. But it looks awesome!

I'm giving this as a gift but it looks really nice and I think he will enjoy it. He is a Star Wars enthusiast.

We bought this mug as a gift for my son's teacher, and I had to try it out before I gave it to him, because frankly, I was skeptical it would work like advertised. The cup is not dishwasher or microwave safe, so you can not heat the water up in the mug, but pouring a hot cup of coffee, tea, or soup makes the magic happen! And it is very visible. The light sabers really were visible once the mug got warm, it even took a few minutes after the cup was empty for the mug to cool down enough that the light sabers disappeared again. Great gift for the Star Wars fan on your list!

Absolutely love this!! As soon as I got it my kids and I all gathered around to watch the lightsabers reveal themselves, never had my kids try to feed me so much coffee before. I don’t feel comfortable microwaving it and you’re not supposed to put it in the dishwasher so it doesn’t get as much use as my other mugs. It’s pretty big so if you want to see the lightsabers in their full glory, and have a single serve coffee machine I’d go with the smaller size

So, I am very careful and cognizant as to how I clean this mug. I only hand wash, and only use the soft side of the dish sponge, not the harsh side. I had read previous reviews that talked about how the graphics on the outside of the mug started peeling, but decided to go ahead and give this mug a shot since I really liked the graphics. I had actually bought two of these mugs—one for myself, and one as a gift for a friend. I haven’t heard how my friend’s mug is holding up, but as you can see from my picture, the wording is now washing off the bottom of my mug. Please note, I do not let this mug sit in hot water, nor have I ran it through the dishwasher or placed in the microwave to be heated. When I’m done with my coffee, I just rinse out the inside, but every other use, I actually use a sponge on the interior and rinse off the exterior. I then place it in a rack to air dry. If the graphics start peeling off the outside, I will definitely be coming back here and updating my review to reflect one star. I have my fingers crossed and hope this doesn’t happen.

Loved that there were several colors of sabers. Every one thinks it is really cool, but actually the mug needs to be really hot to work. :-)
