Apparently bum bags are coming back into fashion? And not just that ironic, hipster kind of fashion either. Anyway, the main reason I bought this was practicality, and it is indeed exceptionally useful. I always have to hand and keep it stocked with wet-wipes, 4 nappies (2 for each of my children), 2 poly rain ponchos, nappy cream, a roll of nappy sacks, a travel talc bottle, anti-bac wipes, a battery charger for my phone with universal cable, and a ready-made bottle for each child. It has probably been one of my better purchases in the last 10 years, and definitely the best thing since becoming a dad. It has saved countless arguments where previously my wife would use, but not restock the family changing bag. Before, I would have been stranded in a baby-change or accessible toilet (in shops or cafes where the baby-change is in the women's toilets, why is this still a thing?!), looking into an empty change bag with a dirty nappy in hand but no replacement and no wet-wipes! Now, I know for certain that I have everything to hand. Also, because of its small size, you can just grab on the way out of the door for even short walks to the park and be confident that you can deal with any baby-related problems that may arise. Much better than feeling like the roulette gambler putting the last of their life savings on red, just because your baby hasn't done a poop yet today. The materials seem to be water-resistant but certainly not water-proof. This hasn't been an issue for me as there is always some sort of shelter or rain protection for the children that I can put the bag in too, but worth considering if you plan to use for hiking or running. Maybe a touch overpriced (I think I paid £50), but given Patagonia's commitment to ethical values and the quality of the product, I didn't mind too much. I had a cheap bumbag as a kid in the 80s (the last time they were in fashion), and it fell apart quickly which led to me losing my pocket money and sweeties out of a hole in the bottom. I went for a better quality one this time so I didn't have to relive that trauma #FirstWorldProblems. All in all, perfect "dad" accessory, just need a Nalgene bottle, a pair of New Balance trainers and you're there. Well, probably need to keep an eye on the kids too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves...
