Tutankhamun

Great Introduction to Ancient Egypt
My son is 3 1/2 and became interested in ancient Egypt after visiting the Sphinx and the Egypt galleries in Philadelphia's Penn Museum. I looked around for books about Egyptian history and mythology for a while; this is the only book that I found that is both generally historically accurate and apt for a young child. Not only it is beautifully illustrated and fun to read, but it is a great introduction to key figures and concepts in Egyptian history. So it won't be too scary or too long, I only read him about 1/2 of the book (i.e., up to Tutankhamun's restoration of Amun-worship alongside Aten-worship - thus stopping before Tutankhamen dies). This book is also a lovely object in its own right; my son wants to read this book almost every night, but I would want to own it even if I didn't have a child to whom to read it.

WELL-RESEARCHED AND VISUALLY ARRESTING
A visually arresting, well-researched, highly informative treatment of the life and times of Tut. The beautiful illustrations are best viewed in book format, but their quality is still impressive in electronic e- book format. The 64-page length allows this book to include adequate information to be considered a legitimate source to cite for a school research paper through middle school, and even as a minor anecdotal source for high school research. A welcome addition to any school library.

Simple but Interesting
Got this book for my 13 year old who I insist must read something other than text books and sports how to's. Found it to be an easy read. Historical facts were kept light enough and short enough to hold his interest as well as cause him to go and look for more details. The illustrations were also fabulous. Note, it reads better on any screen above 5 inches.

My Tut obsessed child loves this book...and so do we!
My husband who is a designer was shocked at how beautiful this book was as he thumbed through it. The printing alone is worth buying this book. Then for the people who are fans of Tut's story, this is a must have - great research, well told. My only negative is for the copy we purchased, the family tree for Tut is now slightly incorrect. Latest DNA research has proved who Tut's mother really was...but, other than that, this book is amazing.

this is another item where i wish AMAZON would mark it as a child's book. Jumped at the name and it turned out as a picture book. I'll keep it mainly because the pictures are well done and i am a bit childish. I have all the OZ books and read them frequently.
