Works great
Bought this to try making shortbread cookies for the first time and it worked perfectly. Suggest dipping it in flour before each use to keep the dough from sticking inside it. Design is perfect, super easy to clean and use.

Great Memories
When I was a little girl, every Christmas my grandmother would get all us grandkids together and we would make cookies. We made all kinds of shapes and sizes of cookies and every color you could think of. We even got grandma to add food coloring to the dough so we could bake them in different colors. The cookies were then taken to homeless shelters and neighbors who didn't have family near them for the holidays. This memory stays with me today and I hope when I have grandchildren I can carry this tradition on. I searched for a shortbread cutter in this shape for quite some time.I have used this cutter many times and find it to be very good. It is thin metal but works great.

Great item, but not shipped well!
Cookie cutter was mailed in a bag not wrapped at all. Needless to say it was bent up, other that that nice item.

MANUFACTURER TAKE NOTE
I love the shape of this little cookie cutter, but it is a pain in the butt to use, as others have noted. It took several tries to figure out a way to remove the dough from the cutter since the top is closed. I tried dipping the cutter into flour, sugar, hot water, hot water and sugar, and applying a non-stick spray. After each try, I shook it vigorously in an attempt to dislodge the dough. All led to frustration and failure. I even pried out the dough with the narrow handle of an iced tea spoon. That helped, but it marred the cookies' appearance a bit. I did not hit upon what I think might be a solution until my first batch was in the oven and I was shaping the second batch. My recipe calls for the dough to be 1/2" thick; however, with my first batch, some of the cookies were actually a little thicker. By accident, I found that if I rolled the dough just a hair under 1/2" thick, it would easily pop out of the cutter after I gave it a shake. Another thing, inspect the inside of the cutter to make certain that it is clear of dough. That will give you a cleaner cut and a better release. I also had a problem with the weakness of the handle. It collapsed when I pressed on it and, at one point, even separated from the base. I was able to get it back together and used it without the handle for a few cuts. NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: RE-DESIGN THE CUTTER WITH AN OPEN TOP AND A STRONGER HANDLE. In the meantime, I have ordered the fluted square biscuit cutters that are open at the top and have what appears to be a better handle design. Not exactly the shape that I wanted, but I should not have to go through these gyrations just to bake some rectangular-shaped, fluted shortbread cookies.
