My 50 lb bullpei and 95 lb boxer LOVE this bed! I've had it about a year now, and the foam is still in great shape-still holds form and is very comfortable. The cover is starting to show wear though on the main part where the bed is. My boxer does have a way of digging on it so that I'm sure plays a big role and it is only a tiny hole that has been there a few weeks, they don't play with it like they have with previous bed, so it's still in okay shape. The exterior parts are made out of more durable material but the bed cover although soft, is very thin now after a year. Not complaining as we've never been able to hold onto a bed this long so I'd say this is still ahead of the game. This is the only bed that the bullpei hasn't humped, chewed or destroyed! I think he appreciates the quality haha We originally bought it after my little guy hurt his back and he's loved it ever since. Highly recommend for quality and durability. My only gripe is the perimeter doesn't go back in too great after you wash it. We have an issue trying to get it to "stand back up" but it's still functional. I would love it if they had a replacement cover to hold me over a little longer before having to replace the bed and if the outside cushions could be washed. Overall I definitely recommend this bed!

My dear pup, Dufus, has reached the gentle age of 13 years and I have noticed her having some discomfort when getting out of her bed in the mornings. Let's face it, time can be hard on old bones. (Being ancient myself, I can sympathize. ) Therefore, I spent a little time researching orthopedic beds, especially for larger dogs as my baby weighs about 80 pounds. (Please don't let her know I revealed that - you know how sensitive some folks can be regarding such things.) With winter coming, I also wanted a bed with cushioned sides to protect her from drafts. Many of the items I researched didn't meet my requirements for size, cushioning, sides, and -- we won't even discuss some of the outrageous prices I stumbled across. Eventually however, I found exactly what I was looking for. This bed arrived and my Dufus absolutely loves it. Everything about it screams quality. The material is top knotch. The mattress is soft but firm and thick. And the price is truly surprising, especially for the size. I was so impressed, I ordered a second bed for the family room. Yes, I spoil her, but she's worth it. The only problem with the bed was with the directions. Not being the brightest bulb on the string, I carefully read every word and followed them exactly. Never having dealt with memory foam before, I was surprised at how thin it was when rolled and sealed. The directions said to open and let inflate for 2 to 3 hours before inserting into the pocket on the bottom of the bed. Wow, I sure wish I could get my paycheck to grow that fast and large!! After only half an hour, the foam appeared to be at least 5 times it's original size. Amazing stuff! At that time, and being eager to see the completed product, I began to insert the pad into the prepared pocket. Have you ever pictured a 500 pound person trying to fit into a size small pair of skinny jeans??? My exertions for the next hour were an enormous source of amusement to my entire four-legged family. I think the cats may even have posted a video. Eventually, after much sweat, determination, and x-rated language, Dufus was presented with her new, deluxe, comfortable bed. She immediately laid in it for a sorely needed nap. I think she wore herself out trying not to laugh at her hooman's antics. When the second bed arrived, the foam was inserted into the bottom pocket within a minute of being opened. It was so very much easier!! I left the zipper open to allow air to reach the pad for inflation. After an hour or two, with no effort from me, it was done. Although this eleminated all the wrestling, cussing, and sweating, I think the felines were disappointed not to have another opportunity to embarrass me on YouTube. Otherwise, this lovely bed is top notch all the way. (I am even thinking of getting one for the cantankerous cats, in spite of their disloyalty.) Sorry this review has turned into a novel. Just try this product, it's pretty darned good. Nuff said.

OK so I have a lot to say about this bed. I do rescue and I get alot of secondhand pet beds. I also have purchased quite a few at the local pet stores. Many of the new beds are junk. I need ones I can wash, because doing cat rescue means hairballs and all sorts of accidents. And they need to hold up to multiple washings and be easy to put back together. (funny it's always easy to take them apart, eh?) Now that my personal dog (a 45 pound Bassett) is over age 10, I have been searching for an ortho bed for her. So I bought one of those flat square ones from the local Petsmart. Got one on sale for about $28 which was a great deal at the time. It did not last, the egg crate "support" was not easily washed when liquid seeped thru the cheap-o fleece cover. By the time I realized these square flat dog beds were too lousy for words, I had purchased three (two still with me). I had to cut the egg crate into big slices to be able to put it on delicate in the washer. Also to try to avoid these accidents seeping into the egg crate again, I had to insert a washable pee-pad over the egg crate when I reassembled. Very frustrating. So I was on the search for a durable, washable, higher quality pet bed. I've had several donated that are absolutely well made, however I realized they are from years ago when things were made higher quality (alas but less attrition for those corporate giants). Unfortunately these were cat beds which my dog cannot use. I stumbled upon this one after visiting and re-visiting some of the bully beds which are lifetime warranty but priced into the stratosphere. So, I bought one. OK so the foam has to expand for 2 hours....got that done. Now the foam is square but the bed is round? After inserting the foam and struggling to close the zipper, I realize this is a very inventive way to support the bed. You can see the square "foundation" in the picture. The foam is square, and after you zip it in, it's all good .... the dog absolutely loves it (and so do the cats). Now comes the time when I must wash it. Since the only "assembly" I had to do when it arrived was the foam, that is all I took out when I forced it into the washing machine (around the agitator). It was after this bed was laundered that I realized the side bolsters have their own zipper (the instructions with the bed are minimal so I bet I'm not the first person to figure this out after the fact). So, heads up, there is a 2nd zipper (and yes the zippers are well hidden by a tailored flap). Bottom line: this is a VERY WELL MADE bed for the same price as one of those cheesy, fleece covered flat egg crate beds sold at Petsmart and similar stores that are only so thick and bottom out quickly for your dog. This one has excellent padding and my dog loves having a "headrest". Her only issue is getting in and out of it, she has short stubby legs and she finally learned to go in on the front side! Just be aware it is a struggle to get them assembled the first time and after each wash...but definitely worth it. Note: I had previously bought a "large" size for my Bassett, it is too big for her, but the cats enjoy being in there with her. :) The medium could be considered a bit small for her, though, I wish there were a size in between.

I bought two of these. One in a size Medium and one in a size Large. The large is great. Perfect. Soft, thick memory foam. Nice, soft cover. Washes well. The medium one, the memory foam never "fluffed up" completely and was somewhat flat. Much less thick than the Large bed we received. The medium foam pad was thinner in some parts and thicker in other parts, very uneven. I let it set out in a warm room for several hours (4-5) the first day and then put it in the cover. I stepped into it and sank to the floor and was not at all impressed. When I stepped into the Large foam pad, it was soft and cushy and great. I took the foam pad out again the next day and let it set out all day long. Still didn't expand. Still thin. We finally cut some foam padding we had left over from a chair we refinished and replaced the memory foam the bed came with. Although this solved the problem, I'm not really very happy for having to pay what I did for just a dog bed cover... So, loved the large bed. Got unlucky on the medium bed. I would take more stars off because of the medium bed, but the large one was really, really nice. For reference, my Goldendoodle is 92 pounds and sleeps in the large bed with PLENTY of room to move around. My Standard Poodle is 45 pounds and she got the medium bed. She fits well in it, but doesn't have as much extra room as my Goldendoodle does in his large bed. Both beds are more for curling up in than sprawling out on, so if your dog is a sprawler, keep that in mind. My poodle likes to do both and the more she sprawls out in her bed, the more wonky the shape of the bed gets...

Update: I mentioned below that I would update in a couple weeks but I forgot. Oops!! So it’s been 3 months and this thing is amazing. We have 5 dogs so it gets a lot of use. I have taken the whole cover off 3 times to wash it. Yes, it’s a little troublesome to get back on but it goes back together just like it started and it has held it’s shape well. Original post: I have just opened this bed, put it together, and inspected the bolster portion to see how it would go back together after washing. One thing I’d read over and over in reviews was that the only way to get the bolster inserts out and back in after washing was to stuff the larger portion through the more narrow portion of the cover, which makes the lower part of the bolster in the front. That must have been a design error that has been rectified. Mine has a zipper all the way around the outside of the bolster portion, tucked under a flap of material to “hide” the zipper. There is no stuffing bigger portions of bolster inserts through smaller portions. You just put the bolster inserts in the cover, sliding portions under a few elastic straps to hold it in place and zip the zipper. Now you do have to use a little common sense when zipping up that portion and hold a hand between the bolster inserts and the zipper as you zip it it up. The bolster inserts are very fluffy and full, which look like would hold the shape better. If you just try to pull the zipper, the material of the bolsters will absolutely get caught in the zipper. Same with the foam insert on the bottom. You have to sort of stuff it in there and pull the cover over it to close the zipper. If the cover did not fit so snug, the pillow would lose it’s shape. I put it together and then curled up on it myself before the dogs got it dirty. I weigh 120 lbs. I had the pillow on the hard tile floor and could not feel the floor through the foam and my hips are fairly boney. If it compresses over time, I’m sure a couple of $3 Walmart pillows would do the trick. I read all the negative reviews before I bought this and I simply don’t agree with lots of the complaints. Now, I do not have young chewers (this doesn’t appear to be chew resistant at all) and my dogs are not permitted to do that digging/rooting around deal before they lay down. I often have a blanket in their beds so they can stuff that under them, or around them, to get comfortable but they aren’t allowed to scratch at a flat pillow/bed, just because that’s what dogs do. I’m not always able to correct unwanted behavior but over the 30 years that I’ve taken in rescues, pound dogs, etc, that’s not one I’ve struggled with. I do understand that sometimes they just won’t follow instructions! I will plan to update in a couple weeks to report on how easily it washes, what shape it comes out of the washer in, etc. I will be sure to note how the main, center portion of the bed is holding up as this was also one of the negative comments I saw several times.

It's an amazing product, I mean, I won't be able to speak for your experience, but this has CHANGED MY LIFE!!! Let me explain, I got my little buddy when he WAS little, just a ball of fur that wouldn't even fill my lap as he curled into a ball and fell asleep. And during those months, it was an absolute delight to have this little, adorable, defenseless, cuddly beast share my bed with me. Yet, as time passed, he grew, not too much, but enough to take a significant amount of space on the bed, about 1/4 of a full sized mattress, which may not be much to many, but let me delve deeper into his sleeping habits. First, he waits, he waits until I have made myself comfortable in my bed, snuggled underneath the blankets and warming it up with my body for the chilling night to come. After about, say, 20 minuets of biding time, he jumps onto the bed and starts shoving his cold wet nose against my arm until I lift the blanket and he's able to take place underneath. THEN, this little cretin, he walk around in freakin' circles underneath the blankets on my bed, until HE'S all bundled up and I am stuck with a mere sliver of a blanket that is ice freakin' cold. Thus, for the next fifteen minuets, I must wrestle a little more from his cocoon so I can stay warm, and then if someone comes home (someone in my household works restaurants and has some really late nights,) he bolts out of bed taking the sheets out of my room and halfway across the basement as he dashes up the stairs alerting me of an intruder. SO, I would get my blanket and get comfortable again, and guess what? Here my little buddy comes, seeking to make his cocoon once again, and the battle for a little, and NOW I'm able to get some sleep. Until HE starts tossing and turning, shoving his calloused paws into my face, or worse, my crotch, and grunting as if I am the one inconveniencing him. I got about six hours of sleep, on average. However, SINCE I got this dog-bed that he instantly fell in love with, I have been able to get eight hours of glorious, blissful, mostly undisturbed sleep (he does still notify me when someone comes home, no matter how late). So, I feel that this product deserves every single on of the five stars, more, if possible!!

I spent $200 on a "heavy-duty" bed. Molly ripped a hole in the cushion within 2 months. I flipped the cushion over. She ripped 2 holes in that side. So, within 6 months, it was destroyed. Spent $300 for a "chew-proof" bed. Molly wouldn't even get in it! She would sleep on the floor next to it. I think she didn't like the feel of the fabric. I bought a memory foam bed for $150 and that one was also a total bust. Molly sniffed and walked away! My recliner and sofa were her favorite spots and there was nothing to be done about it! I was very hesitant to spend more money for yet another fail but after reading the reviews, thought I'd give the BarksBar 40x30 a try. Wow, am I glad I did! As soon as I put this bed down, she sniffed and climbed in! She is a 65-pound Lab and has plenty of room to curl up or stretch out. For some reason, she doesn't dig at the cushion like she did with her other beds. And, she uses the sides as a pillow. Now, I can't get her out of it! I have to coax her out to go for walks. She comes out quick, though, when it is dinnertime. She IS a Lab, after all! But, must say that I was able to go to the bathroom alone for the first time in years! Haha She just won't leave this bed! Quality of construction seems good for the price and the comfort level must be high for her. So far, so good. If it lasts her more than 6 months, I'll still be way ahead of the game! I have this one in the living room and she hasn't been on the sofa since I got it. I'm thinking about buying a second one for the bedroom. I definite recommend this one!

I'm extremely pleased with this large dog bed. It's perfect for my 60-lb mutt - a little bigger than strictly necessary, but he likes to sprawl with all his legs out. My dog loves this bed. He likes using the raised edge as a pillow. He actually chooses to sleep in this bed instead of on the couch. This is the 5th dog bed I've bought for him, and the first that he prefers to the couch (the first 3 beds met their untimely deaths during his puppy chew-everything-destroy-all-stuffing stage). On first inspection, the bed seems well made. The foam is thick, the zipper sturdy. The bed doesn't slide around on my hardwood floors. The cover is thick, and easy to remove for washing. It wouldn't hold up against a determined chewer, but I haven't seen a dog bed that would. UPDATE: After a year of daily use, this dog bed is still in perfect condition. The cushioning has not compressed, there's no signs of wear on the cover, and it still doesn't slide around on the hardwood floor. The zipper is in great condition. It's easy to get the cover off to wash. My dog has not chewed on it at all, so I can't speak to how it would hold up to a serious chewer. But it's been fantastic for us. My dog still prefers it to the couch (a miracle!). I liked this so much that after a year, I bought a second one, so my dog can have a cozy bed downstairs and upstairs.

The bed is well-designed, well-made and of excellent quality. I bought this bed after carefully researching the beds available and I'm glad I did. My dog absolutely loves it.

Our little Bichoodle, 'Angel', took to the dog bed straight away. She obviously finds it comfortable. The cut out in the front is just the right size for her to rest her head on while she can look around the room. The cushion is nice and warm.

Good orthopedic bed, strong foam, but enough for my baby to safely roll around. The only pitfall is the smell, strong chemical smell from the memory foam, need to wait until the smell go away then let the dog in.
