Best Internet Security Available
I have been using this product for 7 years and I have NEVER had a virus or an intruder get through my firewall or any adverse activity penetrate my network EVER. The only thing I regret is NOT buying it through Amazon. I used to pay full price to renew the subscription yearly directly through Norton. I just happen to stumble across this software on Amazon at almost half the price. I didn't even need to download the software since I already had it. I just entered the new product code into my existing product and it added an additional 365 days on to the subscription status after going to the "verify subscription status" within the control panel of the interface on the product. Lastly, Semantec has tried different methods to provide support for its products over the years and I remember in the past it was sometimes difficult to get someone on the phone or even through chat to help with a simple issue. In the last couple of years they seemed to have revamped their help & support section. They first try to steer you to a virtual agent and then to a knowledge-type base that is searchable. After that you are finally given the option to chat with a live tech support representative. Everytime I have chatted with a tech support agent, my issue has been resolved with just that once chat session. The ask a lot of questions during the session so you have to be assertive and direct the conversation to where you know the problem is otherwise they troubleshoot in a textbook manner which is annoying because it wastes a lot of time. Full disclosure: I have a master's degree in Information Technology w/ NO concentration in anything specific. The most prevalent issue I have usually has to do with the 3 PC limit that they allow you to use the product on. I have 3 computers so I use up all of the licenses immediately all at once when I renew the subscription. However, if I need to do an clean install or upgrade, the Norton product doesn't allow the product code to be entered because it rightfully recognizes that it has already been installed on 3 computers. When I explain that it is a re-install, they reset the install count back to ZERO when actually gives you another 3 installs of the product. I only usually need one, but just-in-case having 2 extra ones does come in handy in case the issue comes up again. Also as a courtesy, they usually add on an additional 30 or 60 days of subscription time as a gesture of goodwill. This doesn't seem like much but it is a very nice addition and something that don't have to do. Anyhow, I wouldn't use ANY other internet security or virus protection PERIOD. The interface is light and hardly uses any processing power and usually only runs in the backround or when the computer is idle. If you are on the fence about this item, I recommend you buy it. For this price, it is a steal. :)

Best Security Available But Install Carefully to save your Remaining Subscription Days
Years ago Norton Security was a bloated, over-priced security suite that deserved the universal scorn heaped upon it. But times have changed, and in recent years Norton has slimmed down, gotten in shape, and won back the respect of security professionals industry-wide. Check out NIS reviews at PC magazine and elsewhere to read up on it yourself.I upgraded from 2010 to 2011, and from 2011 to 2012. I have yet to regret it as the software does exactly what it should: provide a highly secure firewall, and expert antivirus protection, in a practically transparent manner to the end user. I don't even tweak with the settings anymore - the software recogizes common software programs and selects the appropriate settings. It updates itself automatically. It scans automatically. You can be as involved in this process as much, or as little, as you choose. Which is how it should be. For those of you who still don't secure your computer? Well, the cost of fixing your credit rating, paying for a monitoring service to look out for unauthorized credit checks and card accounts, and your overall loss of sleep if your identity is compromised is far more than the cost of this software. Think of like insurance - we hate to pay the premium, but we are pretty happy when we need the coverage. And, now that a single license covers three computers, this software is even more of a no-brainer.If you are renewing an existing subscription, like NIS 2011, keep this in mind: when you select "check for new version" or install a new retail NIS 2012 disk, you are NOT adding to your current subscription. You instead are purchasing a new subscription for coverage for another year. I upgraded my NIS 2011 to 2012 thinking my "remaining subscription days" would remain the same. I lost a few days, but no big deal because I was near the end of my subscription anyway. But if you have days remaining, wait to install the 2012 disk software or upgrade until your existing subscription is almost or completely gone. Otherwise, you will have your subscription clock "reset" to 366 days remaining, meaning you won't see your previous "days remaining" added to the new subscription period. It just resets it because it is a new subscription. Only if you renew your existing license through the software itself will you see your remaining days added, but that is a far more expensive route than buying a new license/key through Amazon.Good luck and stay secure.
