For Those That Work In Engineering Without ANY Engineering Background
I ordered this book when I was offered a position with an overseas O&G engineering firm. While my role was legal-related, I thought it would be best not to look like a total idiot when I had to participate in PM negotiations. So, I get this book, start reading and...I give up. It was too much, too soon and I just noped all the way out of it and went back to packing my stuff. Here's the thing that many non-engineers (like myself) do not realize: engineering (like law) is beautifully broad and has something for everyone. When using this book as a non-engineer, focus on the subset that you pertains to you, otherwise you increase the risk of information overload. Take your time. This book increased my technical knowledge (that was at 0...and that's being kind), and while my colleagues that were trained engineers raised eyebrows when they saw it in my office, those that looked through it agreed it had great information that would help any student.

Fundamentals Book
Edit : Not for high school, in retrospect.I am going to use this book when I teach HS engineering this fall. Even though there is another rating that this book is 'weak' this book covers things that my intensive bachelors degree overlooked because we were focusing on the meat of engineering. This book is fun and gives a good basic foundation to work with. It is a spring board to work from, and harder problems can be worked up from here. It's not focused on a vocational point of view but on a college bound point of view - very good if you're going toward a BS. Makes you want more and it has good exercises for the students, I can't wait to use it!

Assessment
Exceptionally comprehensive overview of the disipline, especially for the neophyte. Coverage of historical development of various branches and addition of 21st century information is especially useful.

book review
am enjoying the book very much. it is quite easy to follow and teaches me about the fundamentals every engineer should know. I will become more familiar with the engineering field from now on. Thanks!

A bit weak
I have to say that I do not like this book because although it gives a good overview of engineering fundamentals, it does it on a rather low level. There was very little which was new for me. I have to add that I am 17 years old and in my school we have very strong physics classes. Maybe that is the reason. So if you are looking for something challenging. I would advise you to look elsewhere. But in other cases then it is OK.
