The Terror: Season 1
This is more disturbing than any horror film I've watch. I really liked this series because the pair of Victorian explorer ships that were sent to the Artic to find trade routes to China and India looked extemely authentic. The uniforms were great. What I liked best was the acting and the characters, which were very realistic.

very slow, very dull, seen it all before really
Lost interest. Characters weren't likeable, the monster was silly.

A poor decision
Plot spoilerThe true story of this tragic disaster is a very good one, and one which lends itself very well to this kind of treatment. A good cast, authentic costumes and impressive (if not entirely convincing) effects. Very patchy dialogue, with some characters sounding quite authentic, and others not at all. I actually heard one character telling another to "hang in there". So why, why, oh why introduce the 'creature'? It turned the whole thing into an unbelievable farce. If it was believed necessary to have an element of the supernatural, why show it, and so early in the proceedings? And how, as a supernatural being, did it, in effect, die from food poisoning? An unseen, unknown threat would have increased the tension and left one wondering if it was the result of understandable psychological disturbances in the crew. However, it was such a terrible, nightmarish, real life tragedy that it really didn't need such elaborate embellishments. A very silly and childish addition.

Good, mixed with farcical
The actual story in itself is good enough to stand on its own two feet, the farcical segments where the sailors are hunted and killed by some mythical creature that looks like a very angry slow-coloured version of the honey-monster was absolutely ludicrous.

Großes Kino , tolle Schauspieler , sehr sehenswert , wenn auch etwas übertrieben , was das Ungeheuer angeht.
