B&MRacing 81184: 97-06 Wrangler Tj Heavy Duty Tansfer Case Shift Cable Conversion Kit

Don’t cut the corner and buy a cheap cable setup. Tried that and it broke after 2nd use. So far and used several times

Went on great. No grinding, no modifications needed. I did not remove cross member or either drive shaft.. ratcheting wrenches not flex head & a ton of different extensions. Doing this job did suck & I was swearing like crazy. Took 1 full day.

First of all, the B&M logo is cut into the brackets - pretty cool.The B&M kit is a superior design over the other kits I've seen because it uses a clevis mount on both ends of the cable. In this design, the push/pull force is directly in line with the cable providing a much more robust double shear force through the clevis pin rather than the single shear force acting as a side load on the pin of the other designs. Over time, the side load will cause the pin to fatigue and break. Other than the clevis mount, this installation appears to be pretty much the same as the others.As is common with all of these kits, the hardest part is getting to the top nut on the transfer case bracket. I was able to add enough extensions to get the ratchet into some clear space and then put the mojo on it. This kept me from having to lower the transfer case and/or transmission like I have seen done on a couple of videos.

I had to some custom fabricating on the bracket to make it fit on the 4 wheel dr casing . But if you have some skill you can use it otherwise , don’t buy it . The first picture shows there’s a nipple sticking out of the case which the bracket won’t go past to sit flat to attach . But by grinding it down about 1/2” I was able to fit it on . After install what a difference . Works like a charm

AX 15 Transmission you will have to Grind. No big deal. Just heads up.Superior quality and performance over stock.

I'm sorely tempted to remove stars due to a.) the transmission mount doesn't fit a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ as advertised without significant modification, and b) no installation instructions were provided in the box. However, the instructions are available online, and after a few cuts with my Milwaukee grinder and some paint to keep the cuts from rusting, it all came together beautifully. Apart from the issue with the transmission mount needing to be cut to the right shape, the rest of the build quality is excellent, and I am very happy with the overall solution.Note: You actually have to grind off a bit more than what is shown in the photo, but it should be obvious how much you have to cut away when you position the transmission mount up to the bolts on your transmission (after you've removed the stock mount).

This kit is awesome! So smooth. Love it. Easy install even though there's no directions. There's videos out there to look at.
