Superbly illustrated
What a beautiful book. I purchased this as a baby gift for a little boy named Alexander. The illustrations are spectacular. Wonderful book to keep and cherish.

All the Essentials Delivered in a Beautiful Form
My seven year old daughter has a limited attention span when it comes to reading children's history books. "Alexander the Great" does a great job of getting out all of the essential information about Alexander's life in a format that will appeal to a young child. Demi's style of illustration is heavily influenced by the Sino/Persian miniature tradition of painting. Her images are very detailed and will appeal to both child and parent alike. Highly recommended.

Wish I could return.
If you like a story told in pictures then you will like this book. If you want a history of Alexander the Great I would not suggest this book. Also, if you will be reading this book on a tablit, the format is sideways, two small pictures on one page with very small print, of what there is.

Get the book rather than the e-version
The book gets five stars, but the Kindle version only four stars, since the pictures can not be enlarged, and they are too hard to see. The text is also very small, but can be enlarged for easier reading. However, the book , like all that I have seen in this series, is wonderfully, with gorgeous pictures and a fascinating story of a heroic historical figure. I certainly would recommend the book....the Kindle version is just a teaser.

Sublime Illustrations
I purchased this as a gift for my 11 year old neighbor (Alex). As a devotee of Alexander the Great literature, I can say it is a condensed, simply written, but sublimely illustrated history. A book to be treasured in this e-age. Both Alex and I were very happy, and the price was right.

Illustrations Provide a Wealth of Interesting Details that 5 year old Boy Loves
My five year old son in particular likes this book and I've read it many times to him. I'm sure many might find it too violent for someone so young, but that's what he's interested in. The illustrations in particular offer a wealth of details that some might glance over, but that he loves to ask about.

Hard to Read
This was going to be the first Kindle book for my son but I couldn't read the text. It looks like all pictures with very small text even after making it larger. The art work is also difficult to see because of the black and white font. Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong here?

great paintings
I found paintings in this book really beautiful and helpful to understand the great king’s story. Though he had tremendous talents, still it was hard to keep order in the entire kingdom. To take a balance between the power and the freedom is an unsolved issue for long time. But I was simply moved his passion and ambitions toward the unseen world.

A lovely book
My 6 year-old grandson had already borrowed this book many times from his school library, so I thought he'd enjoy having his own book. He loves the story and the illustrations are beautiful. A great buy.

Ebook version doesn't work well
The book is beautifully illustrated and the content is suitable for 8 to 10 year olds. The problem is that the ebook does not work well on either an iPad mini or even a kindle fire HD as it is impossible to zoom the illustrations.

well illustrated, sparsely written
More an illustrated comic , than a book to read. It took less than 15 minutes to read.A big disappointment.
