Picross 3D NDS - Nintendo DS - Nintendo DS

I like puzzles, but I'm not a huge fan of picross, but in spite of that I have to say Picross 3D is a great puzzle game.Can review other reviews for more details, but my two cents are that Picross 3D is a unique puzzle concept, the touch screen and user interface is very good (feels responsive and is easy to view the 3D object, as well as mark and break specific cubes), has a fair level of challenge (particularly if you try to complete it within the time limit [not too hard] and with no mistakes [difficult, at times]).The beginning is pretty slow, but once you get rolling it can be pretty addicting! Whenever you complete a puzzle, the object that you uncover moves / dances around in a short animation/video, which is fun and feels rewarding for your efforts. There is a lot of puzzles on display as well. As time goes, it does start to feel like more of the same, which is too bad, but in terms of puzzles games they really went all out on the unique concept they had, so for what it is I feel like it was done excellently.I give it 9/10 as a fun puzzle game. I hope one day it will come out on WiiU virtual console like some of the other few DS titles on it, I could see it fitting very well and having extra replayability being on the big screen (a group could get involved, or if it starts feeling stale you could pass it along to someone who has yet to try it).

I purchased this game for my 3DS XL since I could not find a fun/challenging puzzle game with the "3D" features of the 3DS. I was very pleasantly surprised with this game.The tutorial eases the player into the mechanics of the game and allows them to figure out how to best remove blocks by deductive and spacial logic. Once I learned the basics, I found it easy to figure out new rules in my own head. I knew what blocks could be destroyed or saved by simply glancing at a row or column for a second. Then slowly (or sometimes quickly) going row to row and figuring out what can be saved and destroyed. Completing each puzzle is extremely satisfying and rewarding.The challenge ramps up in the later levels with the combination of rows of multiple blocks with multiple spaces and a shorter overall time limit. My only complaint is sometimes I felt I actually needed to make a guess as to what block should be destroyed or saved. Maybe I wasn't looking carefully enough and missed something, but there were a handful of times when it happened. It is much more satisfying to complete a level knowing that you didn't guess at all; you just figured out what was the definite solution.Lastly, this is an extremely long puzzle game. Each puzzle took me approximately 8 minutes on average (ranging between 3 - 15 mins each) for 350+ total puzzles. Do the math and you'll see this game can last quite a long time, especially if you decide to replay a puzzle to make sure you get a perfect score.Highly recommended for puzzle fans.

I loved the original (2D) Picross so much that I pre-ordered this game without reading a single review. I'm happy to say that my gamble payed off.For those who have played the original Picross, the 3D version simplifies the grid concept while adding a third dimension. The overall complexity is about equal to the original and is at a level that I find very engaging and fun.For those that have not played the original, think of a Sudoku-like game where you sculpt 3D objects out of a large rectangular block. Also, play the original too!The controls are implemented well, and I have no issues removing blocks, viewing numbers, or changing my viewing angle.The game includes many puzzles (350+) and adds nice touches like "item collections" that add additional completion aspects to the game.Each puzzle takes 2-20 minutes to complete, depending on the difficulty level. You also can "quick save" your progress at any time. This formula makes the game perfect for those who would like to play in small blocks of time, a nice fit for the strengths of the DS.

I love the 3ds version and had to get this one. Received it earlier than expected, and works great!
