Perfect for our needs to keep the grandchildren safe, very sturdy and neat with the bonus of the tools attached

Poor quality build. Materials solid, but the gates were not aligned and therefore stuck together, causing it to almost fall over if you wanted to open them when stood up. You also could have both gates open as it would fall over. It’s solid metal but clearly manufactured on the cheap, returned it as it would look nice but not serve its purpose.

Unpack and put in place. Good range of tools and opening doors make it easy to use for topping up fuel. Looks great on our fireplace

The finish is good at a glance however the doors are a very poor fit. The gap on the hinge side is even but one door hits the other in the centre. This means that both doors have to close at the same time to wedge them closed. The unit falls forward when doors are open making them dangerous when the fire is lit. I suspect that this frame is made from hollow section Steel reducing Costa but also reducing the weight of the frame which doesn’t help it stand upright when opening. The tools look good quality thickness. And generally this unit looks a good finish. Pity that the quality control allowed this to be dispatched. It can’t have fit correctly at the factory as the outer frame is welded to this size. The solution could be to make the outer frame from solid heavier material but keep the door light or add a piece to the base to make it stable. You could adapt this and add fixing to the rear wall but this would negate the reason for purchase as it’s foldable. We only use when the grandchildren are at the house so wanted a foldable model.

Just what we needed to stop our cats getting close the the fire

I really liked this product when it came. Has everything you need at a great price. However it is very light so when you attach the fire poke and brush etc on the hooks allocated for this on the grate and then try to open the doors the whole grate just falls backwards. Seems like a silly design defect. What’s the point if you can’t open the grate doors to poke at the fire because of the lack of sturdiness. The black coloring on the accessories has also literally melted off as soon as it was used in our fire.

Overall quality is less than I expected for the price. Hinges are not straight and threw up minor issues with how I am to use it.
