Practice Makes Perfect: French Conversation, Premium Second Edition

This is an excellent and practical lesson book for learning daily conversation. But it could be better. Some of the phrases contain verb forms, but don't show the root infinitive. If you don't recognize the verb, or it's new to you, you have to look it up. The author could include a glossary of the verbs in the back.

I have been learning French using an on-line tutor for three months, having taken French years ago in high school. I bought this book before taking a one-month vacation in France, and it was just what I needed. I memorized dialogues, which became the jumping off point for being able to engage in very simple conversations. There is an on-line help which allows you to train your ear and pronunciation. You have to already know something about French (I am at the most elementary level), but it gives life to what you are studying.

I am relearning French after a few years since college study. It is even funner to learn now. Book is helpful in my quest to learn French.

This book is a good review if you already have at least a fair knowledge of the language. I am working with it daily and I feel it is helping me with the comprehension of ordinary French conversation.

We are homeschooling and badly needed a French workbook to supplement online classes. This works well for our teen who I would describe as an intermediate French student (he can read *Le Petit Prince* very slowly with the help of a dictionary). His tutor, who is actually France, approves of this book. She has noted some of the conversations involve French people talking as they would have spoken in the 1940s, but a slightly vintage feel is fine with us : )

Wonderful I have been taking french from an immersion school and using their books...all in french. Have now switched to private lessons and using a combination of all french and bilingual books. What a difference. This book is translated and has an app so one can listen to conversations as well.

I think this is an excellent and useful book. If you want to increase your French conversation, this is a great book.

There are so many French textbooks that teach us to speak like a textbook instead of how people speak French in France! Sometimes this workbook has been helpful. There are plenty of exercises to practice and I also downloaded the app---directions are in the book--which is the best part of my purchase! The app has recordings and exercises for all of the dialogues in the book. Hopefully sometime soon, I won't be too shy to write this review in French instead of English ;)

Good book !

I got the Kindle. It's the first Kindle I've ever gotten, and getting it up on the computer screen is very easy, and I'm not a techno. Gently and smoothly introduces you to new topics, naturally following on from each other. Answer key easy to reach. However, I do wish in the answer key for putting french sentences in the correct order, they had also put the english translations. Thanks.

I found this book to be extremely helpful. Learning many rules in grammar books is useful but it's difficult to apply them to everyday use in conversation. This book teaches grammar rules within that context of conversation. It's much easier for me to remember learning within that context and to apply them in everyday use. We all learn differently. For me this is a more practical way to learn grammar for everyday use.

Fantastic book, great practice with my students who all enjoy it. They learn to speak as the French do. The whole series is great .
