I had hopes this would deter mice in the garage. It worked when I stepped in front of it or turned the light on and off but light movement near it did nothing. And I caught a mouse in a trap right beside it...

It works
We purchased one because we wanted to stop the swallows from building a nest in our carport. As soon as we put it up, the birds moved from the original area to the other side. We moved the owl, and they found a new location in the carport. We chose to purchase a 2nd owl. Now we have on each side and have to continue to move, but the birds move to another area. I think we may have won the battle. The only down side I have found, is the motion detector has a short range. We have to locate them high and near their flight path. Even though, they do the trick.

"Gives a Hoot"
I was about to return this since it seemed erratic, but now it works as far away as 20 feet.......as it sits in range of my computer, it's almost annoying as it senses my every move. I don't know if it will scare Birds away, but it makes a Nice Pet with no required Clean-up.

You had one job!
Attractive. Well made. I wouldn’t mind keeping it on the fireplace mantle, which is good because it’sa complete fail as a bird deterrent. Look at these clever (or courageous) swallows using it as a perch.Motion detection appears to use a light sensor rather than a true motion detector so any change in light will set it off including shadows of trees moving in the wind. Still, have had it up for about a month and the batteries are still going strong.

Waited for nothing!!
I give this owl ZERO stars.The battery compartment falls out, it doesn’t always hoot, and what the hell is that sound anyway? It’s certainly not an owl sound!! Not as advertised not even close!! With out question my money should be refunded and better be. It’s absolute crap!!!!

Don’t buy unless you just want the statue which is pretty nice.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Motion detection is at best 4” so hopefully the squirrels or chip monks come up and say hello to trigger it.

Pretty cheep
NIce coloration, but the hoot is about as sick as you can imagine, and hardly loud enough to scare anything, also the motion sensor is quite lame, you have to be withing approx. 2 feet if your a sparrow. Probably the glowing eyes are more affective than the sound. But neither work unless you pretty nearly jump on it.
