Soft Boil Egg Cracker
I like my eggs soft boiled, the only thing is the mess when I crack them open, and l also like to dip my bread (soldiers) into the runny yolk. The problem was the mess, getting a good clean cut of the shell large enough to get my soldier in and a spoon with a big enough opening to do it easily was difficult. Then a saw my nephew with an egg cracker, I was amazed, these things have been around for a long time, I thought they had gone away. I ordered one immediately and it works so well I am ordering more for my kids, it cracks the egg in a perfect circle, large enough for you to dig in there, most of the time the shell comes off clean leaving the white intact, you can just cut through, sometimes the shell stays on but with the perfect crack, no mesh on the cracker, its perfect. Love it!!

Great idea, bad execution
This device works, but only for a short time. The force of the steel weight repeatedly striking home is just too much for the rod and it will eventually snap off as others have noted. The replacement to the first one that broke has done the same after one use. Maybe use a stronger grade of metal ?

Cracks boiled eggs like an expert.
I hated whacking my soft boiled eggs with a spoon and then trying to get that top off enough to actually eat the egg without messing around trying to get the shell off the egg: i never got the gift of egg whacking well enough. The brits use these things all the time: they work soooo well. Just put your cooked egg into an egg holder with the small end up, position the little bell shaped thing on top of it touching it: holding the little ball upright: pull the bell up to the top and drop it. maybe it will need two drops. Remove the cracker and walllahhh! the top will come off with a clean break and doesn't leave shell all over the place. just wonderful.

It works
It’s really cute, works well. Lost the little knob on the top but it still functions. It’s easy to clear which you don’t have to worry about toMuch unless it punctures the egg so hard and yoke flies everywhere but that’s not likely to happen unless you have like Hulk fingers

Cute & Fun but not that useful
Tried to use this on duck eggs, which have a harder shell. Took several drops to open the first egg I tried, but on the second the bottom of the egg broke before the top section came off. I suspect it would work better on chicken eggs, but I only have duck eggs due to chicken egg allergies. It is a cute gizmo. It may be silly, but I like the shape of it even if it did not work for me. Edit: Tried it again today and found it works much better if you leave the egg sitting in the carton when you use this gizmo. For duck eggs it took about 10 drops of the weight to open the egg. It was fun to use even it it was no less messy than just cracking the egg on the side of a bowl.

Works
I have to use it at max height to crack our hens’ eggs. Maybe our chickens lay hard eggs. I enjoy the perfect crack circle and how easily and clean it peels off.

Works as advertised but you may need to drop the ball on a shell a couple times if it's very hard
Easy to clean, fits neatly into my kitchen tools drawer. Fits over the jumbo eggs I usually buy, but if the shells are hard you will need to drop the ball from all the way at the top a couple times. A very handy tool.

Huh? Suction power?
Since this gadget didn't come with directions, I had no idea that suction power would be a factor in cracking the egg without breaking the shell or its contents. I thought that since it was like a little hat for the egg with a metal ball slipped over a rod over the egg, that somehow I was supposed to raise the ball to a high position, then let it fall to the bottom, producing pressure on the egg and weakening the shell at exactly the point where the metal cap stops. I thought that a little pressure from tapping the egg at that point should/would produce a clean break, which is desirable when a person wants a Euro-style four-minute egg from which you can easily remove the top and scoop the white out of it, and then eat the rest of the egg by dipping the spoon into the shell and either eating it bite by bite, or sort of cutting up the egg insides, complete with runny yellow, and adding a bit of salt and pepper and eating your egg right out of the shell. So, back to the gadget. If it is supposed to have suction power, then maybe that is what makes it a "proactive egg topper cutter remover." At any rate, clearly the manufacturers of this gizmo need to provide a page of instructions, complete with diagrams. I went to Europe and ate European four-minute eggs . . . .Somehow, the Euros managed to slice that top off the cooked egg leaving everything intact. But we Americans lack the knack -- and not too many of us eat our eggs that way, anyway. But for the die hards, maybe there's someone out there who knows better how to crack a freggin' egg!
