Punisher Vol. 1: The King Of Killers Book One (PUNISHER NO MORE)

The Punisher leads The Hand!
This feels like what Frank has been leading up to all his life. To become the King of Killers (which in many respects he already is) feels like such a logical conclusion to his crusade. Plus, all the flashbacks to his childhood and teenage years fleshes out Frank in a way that hasn't been done before and gives a real insight into how Frank has always seen the world. For a long time, we always thought that it was the death of Maria and his children that drove Frank over the edge, but this shows that he has been over the edge ever since he was a boy. Not only that but the war was the only place that Frank felt at home and that uneasiness he (and many soldiers before and after him) feel in civilian life. Plus, the conflict that Frank has always been resourceful, but with the resources of the Hand at his fingertips, the possibilities for bloodshed on a massive scale are endless. If you're a fan of The Punisher, don't snooze on this book because it is a refreshing take on the one-man army that is Frank Castle and I can only imagine it getting better.

The Beast
Technical: The art/coloring, are top notch. Jesus Saiz takes the main story art. It’s beautiful and fluid and works really well with the feel of the story. Paul Azaceta takes the ongoing flashback element with his alternate style which works extremely well and gives a fun 70’s vibe. As always, Dave Stewart nails the colors.Story: Jason Aaron is one of my favorites and continues to spin new tales that manage to bring layers of depth. The story itself is a new road for the Punisher. Frank has been through a lot, he’s killed A LOT. This story is a breakdown of his motivations and past.Overall: A+ all around. I don’t believe this will please the average reader looking for the Punisher to blow up everything and shoot all the bad guys. I’d reserve this tale for someone looking to see a character study. If it’s your first Punisher foray, I’d start with some of Ennis’s work and then migrate back here.

Frank Castle = GOAT
Absolutely love the direction this story is going. The punishers humanity has always been one of the drawing factors to his stories for me. Somehow he becomes even more human and also a god in this series. His weakness is being exploited and twisted yet he lets himself believe it’s true and his humanity is what his downfall in my opinion but when the chips are down and you just need some old fashion brutality and extreme force he’s the best in the business bar none.

King of killing
One of the best Punisher series I've ever read. It's right up there with Garth Ennis' run. It's a new take on the character, and I can't wait to see if Frank gains more powers. While not one of my favorite artists in the past, the art does fit the story perfectly.

Punisher
I want to say I wasn't sure about this run but the more I read the more I like this story. It's not your normal punisher book but am glad to see a new direction for my favourite Marvel character.

Awesome book.
Glad to see Punisher spill some blood with a new twist. A fresh take on the character. Was wild and bloody from start to finish. I highly recommend this book.

Castle -- cult leaderless
Repetitive and endless issues through a ridiculous and fangless story. We all know roughly how this phase of the Punisher (leader of the Hand) will end (right back where it started), so any changes to his origin at this point will always end up either divisive or forgotten. The changes Aaron presents are ultimately minor and don't unravel the character, they just add nothing useful to it. And all the while, the storyline just plays like an endless flashback amidst dull and small revelations in the present. Aaron wrote some very good Punisher stories years before this. This return to the character plays more like his misfires on the Avengers, etc. -- trying to break and rebuild toys like Morrison or Moore did but lacking in respecting what actually came before in the interest of plots plucked from a hat.
